HANNAH’S POV:

"I married all of you," he said softly, his voice warm and sincere. "Your brilliant mind, your beautiful chaos, your enormous heart. I love every single part."

I tilted my head back to look up at him, meeting his warm eyes. God. Even after all this time, after everything we'd been through, after six months of marriage, he still looked at me like I was something simultaneously fragile and fierce.

Like I was precious and powerful at the same time.

I felt so incredibly lucky and so grateful, every single day.

We spent the next hour or so doing absolutely nothing important, which was exactly what vacation was supposed to be about.

Music played softly from the speaker Jacob had set up. He was outside at the grill, arguing loudly with Cherry about proper seasoning techniques for fish. Cherry insisted he was using too much spice. Jacob insisted she'd lost her taste buds to pregnancy.

Lucas had finally relaxed enough to start teasing Martin about his terrible taste in music.

"I'm just saying," Lucas announced, waving his drink around for emphasis, "if I wanted to feel emotionally attacked and depressed, I would call my mother. Not listen to this sad playlist you've got going."

Elijah and I both laughed.

Martin smirked, clearly enjoying getting a rise out of Lucas. "You absolutely loved this song when we first met. You said it reminded you of falling in love."

Lucas visibly paused. I quickly looked away, trying not to intrude on the moment, and discreetly muttered under my breath, "Oop."

There was a beat of charged silence.

Then Lucas said quietly, his voice different, "That was different. Everything was different then."

I pretended not to notice the way Martin's entire expression softened with longing and regret.
