MARY’S POV:

The wooden door was slammed wide open against the wall, and I stood there watching the blue-haired livestreamer walk right back into the private hospital room as if he owned the entire building.

The young man who had started all the commotion just thirty minutes ago, the very same teenager whose primary phone Alistair had smashed to pieces across the hard tile floor, strode across the threshold with a massive grin stretched across his face. He kept both of his hands tucked casually into his hooded sweatshirt pockets, his head tilted back with total confidence, and his dark eyes sparkling with wicked delight. He looked exactly like a cat that had managed to corner a helpless mouse, his whole body practically shaking with loud, unfiltered joy.

He gave us a smug little smile and said in a loud voice, “Hey, nobody can kick me out of this room now. My older sister just got transferred directly to the empty bed right against the wall! Go ahead and keep arguing with each other. Just pretend I am not even standing here.”

Vesper’s entire face twisted into a look of absolute, furious hatred.

The change in her face was instant and terrifying to watch. The sweet, fragile victim look she had been putting on all night vanished in a single second, leaving behind something raw, ugly, and mean. Her dark eyes squeezed narrow, her thin lips pressed tight against her teeth, and her hands clenched into tight fists over the hospital blanket. Her carefully rehearsed act of being a helpless, innocent young woman completely evaporated into thin air, exposing the real person underneath, the manipulative woman who had spent months pulling strings behind the scenes, only to finally get caught in her own trap.

She looked as though she wanted to scream at the top of her lungs, throw the glass water pitcher right at his head, or jump off the bed to physically attack the boy who had humiliated her in front of thousands of people online. Her chest heaved up and down as she tried to keep her rage under control, her nostrils flaring wide while her jaw clicked tight.

I could tell she was deeply regretting her decision not to demand a private room on the top floor. She was stuck in a shared room all because she had been far too busy putting on a grand dramatic show in front of Beatrice earlier in the evening, completely focused on making herself look like a victim instead of thinking about basic privacy. She had been so completely obsessed with turning Alistair’s mother against me that she had completely forgotten to protect her own public image.

The blue-haired boy let out a loud, sharp laugh that echoed off the white walls. He strolled right over to the empty mattress near the far window, sat himself down on the edge, crossed his legs, and pulled out his secondary phone. The bright screen lit up his face in the dim lighting, and the little red light at the top of the device started blinking steadily.

“Do not mind me at all,” he said with a little chuckle. “I am just sitting here waiting for my sister to get pushed up from the emergency room. I am definitely not recording a single thing right now. I swear on my life.”

He was recording every single second of it.
