The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back) novel Chapter 43

HANNAH’S POV:

FEW DAYS LATER:

“WELCOME BACK AMELIA!” Our entire staff as well as Lucas and Maya chorused with excitement as soon as we walked through the door.

They were pink balloons everywhere as well as a banner with their exact words written on a banner. I grinned from ear to ear seeing the excited look on Amelia when she noticed the scene in front of her. Her favorite snacks from a round cake with Princess Belle on it, to drinks.

“No way!” Both her and Andrew screamed in excitement as they were handed bowls of sundae ice-cream and they both chorused a cute ‘thank you’.

“This is all because I was sick? Thank you so much, aside from all the needles, I really should be sick more often.” She said jokingly, embracing both Lucas and Maya but I frowned deeply.

Everyone else laughed but I cautioned displeased, “Don’t say that.” And she pursed her lips and the room was filled with awkward silence.

Until Lucas broke it in a few seconds, “Let’s go eat cake and enjoy our sundae’s. There are cookies and doughnuts and different treats. It’s our cheat day.”

The twins jumped in excitement and ran to the dinning, and he noticed I was about to caution them to stop running, “I know you’re scared, love, but you need to let them breathe, especially Amelia. They notice every single thing you do and how you react it and you don’t need them worry just like you are, do you?”

I let out a breath, and nodded, “Yeah, you’re right….I need to take a breath.”

“Good. I’m always right!” A smug smile was plastered on his lips making me roll my eyes in a full circle.

He walked off in a white polo shirt and he matched it with some white shorts. He looked like an older man about to go golfing with his buddies but if he had gotten a hat, I’d assume he was going on a yacht with his friends and wife. He looked so cute, I wanted to make fun of him, so I made a mental note while I went into the bathroom in the ground floor and splashed water on my face. 1

We had been at the hospital for just two days but it felt like a month. The doctor had given a list of veggies, as well as vitamins and I made sure to get every single one, whether he considered them necessary or not.

But as I stared at the mirror for a few seconds, my mind drifted back to the interaction between Elijah and I at the hospital.

He kept walking closer towards with his eyes never leaving Andrew’s face, he looked like he was bewildered and so I picked up Andrew and he chiseled his head into my neck acting like when he was younger and he wanted to sleep.

I watched as Elijah clenched and unclenched his jaw, and walked towards me rubbing his thin lips and he cleared his throat, but I noticed his eyes had turned red and his eyes were gloosy, “Are you okay?”

I wanted to ask why he was here, what he wanted and ask him the same question he asked but I found myself saying, “You have no business here, so leave.”

After all it was the children ward, and my head was tall and I knew what he was thinking just by his eyes darting to my son who was trying to look back to see the interaction but I pushed him back towards me. So I cautioned Elijah saying, “Don’t even think about it.”
