The Unwanted Wife's Return (Ex-Husband Wants Me Back) novel Chapter 55

Telling Them the Truth

HANNAH’S POV:

THE NEXT MORNING:

“Good morning mummy!” Amelia excitedly greeted and gave me a kiss on my cheek which only made me smile.

“Good morning, baby. You slept well?” I asked and she nodded with a smile on her face, darting her attention to the television where I was watching the news waiting for anything about last night but there was nothing yet except how grand the Governor’s birthday was.

Or was I watching the right channel or was it just going to end up on the papers or on blogs?

I released a shaky breath. Maybe it hadn’t made the news. Maybe the guests had been too polite or too afraid to gossip openly just yet. Or maybe the internet was already tearing me apart somewhere in the comments section of a blog.

Whatever it was, Lucas and Maya were ready to release a statement and regardless it would serve as a good marketing strategy if the pictures with the Governor’s wife and kids were everywhere and with me next to them and tagged as the designer.

I woke up this morning to a text message from my book manager just randomly checking up on me and I called and soon as the call connected we both laughed. I had to remind her I only worked based on inspiration and she let me know that my books were still doing numbers and she was proud.

Talking to her to be the only easy conversation I was going to have today. After thinking long and hard, I also concluded that the kids deserved a father figure even if it was from a distance.

I rubbed my temples. “Maybe I’m just overthinking,” I muttered under my breath thinking back to the post on blogs.

Andrew emerged from the kitchen with two bowl of cereal and milk in his hands, handing over one to Amelia making her smile.

“Aren’t you a gentleman?” I smiled, sipping out of my cup of tea and he smiled.

He smiled and looked up, and took a seat. “I thought I heard you say something, what was it?”

“Nothing, sweetheart. Eat your breakfast,” I answered softly, forcing a smile.

My phone buzzed and I glanced seeing it was Lucas that had texted asking, You good? Need me to come over?

He had gone to review some documents on his condo and he was going to go to the club after. I totally saw him settling down here because even though he wouldn’t admit it, he looked it here.

I stared at the message for five minutes before replying: No. I’m fine.

Because I was…just a little nerves and the twins are my babies, so I have nothing to fear. If things get too tough, I could easily just book a flight and be on my way.

But Elijah’s words played in my head and I knew he wouldn’t give up just like that.

I know about the twins.

He knew. He’d seen them. And the worst part? I could see his eyes in Andrew’s smile, his stubbornness in Amelia’s chin.

How could I explain any of this to them? Do I tell them their father and I were forced to get married and he treated me like a piece of garbage, but he knows about you now and I know you’ve been longing to meet him but I’m scared he might still be the piece of drunk he was those years ago and I don’t trust him with you two.

I poured myself another cup of coffee, but my hands trembled so badly I almost spilled it. I took a slow sip, staring at the clock ticking on the wall. Ten fifteen. If I delayed any longer, the park would get crowded.
