The Woman I Destroyed
ELIJAH’S POV:
THAT SAME DAY:
“Andrew!” She called out to him, and I watched as he closed his eyes and handed the gift back to me and walked off.
Amelia mirrored his actions looking at me with irritation mixed with disappointment and walked hastily after him. I stood there and mentally grimaced at what just happened.
How did things go wrong so fast when I already knew they only seemed to be entertaining me simply because they could see the anxious look on Hannah’s face even though she probably had no idea of that.
I shouldn’t have given them the gifts knowing I was working on thin ice, but then again I did think they would be impressed. Or maybe I shouldn’t have wrapped it in a gift paper.
I stood there, feeling the gift grow heavier in my grip. My chest tightened as I watched them, my children, walk away from me without a word.
I couldn’t even describe when I actually officially met them. Just watching the three of them walking towards me, for the first time in a long time I felt like hopeful with life. Since Hannah left, I felt like a piece of my soul died but right now, I never felt more happier and with two more treasures. 1
Andrew was blessed with my amazing facial features and I couldn’t wait till we developed a relationship and we were going to games together, playing baseball or whatever game he was interested in together with Jacob and also teaching him things like how to knot a tie or how to be a better man than I was.
And Amelia, I was going to cry at how beautiful my daughter was. I could already picture her compelling me to do girly stuffs and I made a mental note to research ways to style her hair. I planned to be a true father to her so she never would settle for a man who treats her like she was a second option.
I was excited to know what they liked, what they hated, who they hated, what they were allergic to, as a matter of fact, every single thing about them. I wanted to know about all their past birthdays, I wanted to see pictures, I wanted to know if they had ever thought about me.
Hannah, I wanted her to fall in love with me and I wanted her to know what it was like to be loved by me.
God, just staring at her seemed like gazing at perfection
Hannah sighed, rubbing her forehead as she exhaled slowly. “Go play,” she told them gently. They hesitated, still clearly upset, before walking toward the slides. When they were far enough, she turned to me.
I shook my head snapping back into reality.
