Midnight and His Eyes 

HANNAH’S POV: 

“Biggest gossip in finance. He’ll know your shoe size before you get home. Plus his wife is a journalist, so they are both rarely invited for occasions like this. The last time they were invited, an affair scandal was published as a CEO was caught in the bathroom with his mistress while his wife was in the same event. It was a lot.” 

I burst out laughing, earning a few curious stares. Roman grinned, clearly enjoying himself. 

For the first time in a while, I actually relaxed and he was right with every single thing he had promised on how tonight would turn out. 

We headed to the buffet, got food and we served with this smooth red wine. It was one of the best I had ever had 

As we ate, the old CEO spoke about his company and one of the things he mentioned that stuck with me, was the importance of not just having financial partners but also a life partner and the entire room had smiles on their face, and cooed with ‘Awww’ as he praised his wife for being by his side and being his peace in the midst of chaos over the years. 

I smiled sadly and wondered if I would have be that for someone and would someone ever be that for me. 

I could only hope. 

By the time the event ended, it was almost midnight. The music had slowed, and the guests were beginning to trickle out. Roman escorted me to my car as I called my driver to come pick me up, still teasing about how many heads I’d turned. 

“Don’t act like you didn’t notice that banker staring at you all evening,” he said with mock seriousness. “Poor man forgot his wife was beside him.” 

“Roman, please,” I shook my head and laughed. “He was staring at the dessert table.” 

“Sure,” he dragged it out, giving me a playful side-eye.
