The Woman at the Door
HANNAH’S POV:
THAT SAME NIGHT:
“It’s almost midnight, Hannah, and I was trying to call you because an hour ago when I was just checking up on the kids, I noticed Amelia was burning up…..” He informed me and my eyes went wide, instantly sobering up.
“What? Where is she?” I asked raising my voice walking in the direction of the stairs but not only did he stop me but I was surprised seeing his friend, Jacob and Cherry heading down the stairs.
“She’s asleep now. I had our family doctor cone check her up, and he informed that it was as a result of the medicine and her condition. She’s okay…” He spoke reassuringly and walked towards me and embraced me as I was just standing dumbfounded.
Being in his arms felt weirdly comforting and he smelt so good, I wanted to hold him tightly and sniffle, and question why I decided to go out knowing Amelia’s condition.
It was as though he could read my mind because his next words were, “It is not your fault. You deserve to have a nice night out…..I’m sorry for being angry you were out…I was just mad you weren’t out with me.”
His words made me feel even warmer and I could feel my hands reaching to hug him back, remembering the word of the old CEO, on having a partner for times of chaos
Is this what he meant? How could just feel so at peace just being embraced with a soft kiss placed on top of my head? 1
