Borrowed Peace
HANNAH’S POV:
DAYS LATER:
“Maya did what?” I was seated by the bleachers at the poolside and I was on a video call with both Maya and Lucas.
We had all been so busy with work and he had travelled to Stel, another country a three hours flight from here and it was basically for new business he was looking to work with and also to promote our business all over the world. Our marketing officer had also tagged along taking with her some of the collection and I was proud to see her wear some of it as well.
They were going to be there for about a week.
I had smiled when Lucas sent me a photo of one of the locals reading my book from the collections, I was / international in every regard. I had worked so hard on everything which is why we were thriving and doing fantastically well. After the party with Roman, many investors and tycoons had even reached out to me before I did and it made me so happy. 1
So since we had all been busy, this was the first time Lucas was hearing about the fight. And everytime I tried talking to Maya, she avoided conversation.
She would come to my office and give me a rundown on how things are going and I would say, “We need to talk about what happened. Are you okay?”
But with a professional look on her face, she would respond, “if there’s nothing else, I will leave now.”
“Yes, and why have you been avoiding me?” I inquired, watching as she took off the rollers in her hair seating in a purple robe.
“I have been so embarassed. I can’t believe I even did that. I was drunk, I was angry, hurt and jealous, a crazy person had muddy water splashed on me and had me drenched. It was a lot going on that evening and when I came to you for comfort, I had to see him there. It was like the final tick for me.” She spoke looking genuinely embarassed and I knew she felt bad, that night was really something she would never do.
But it was all too much for her.
