ELIJAH’S POV:
A WEEK LATER:
“So I saw your parents the other day….” Jacob pointed out as we were both seated in the living room waiting for Andrew.
The three of us were going to a Flyers game, I had discovered it was his favorite team though he only had knowledge based on what he and Lucas had watched together. I wasn’t much of a Flyers fan but Jacob was, and since Andrew related with him well, I thought it would only make sense. We had passes to also meet some of the players and when I shared that piece of information with Andrew, it was the first time I had seen his face light up since I had met him.
I laughed watching as he said, “Thank you! This is so amazing! But this doesn’t change things.”
He told me sternly with squinted eyes and I raised my hand in surrender and muttered, “didn’t even think it would.”
He was so excited, I had made sure my schedule was clear and my phone was switched off as I feared disappointing him.
I looked up at Jacob, and I asked dryly, “Oh yeah?”
This was the longest I had gone without seeing them, or without my mother pestering me about something or without my dad’s invitations, and I hated how comfortable I was without hearing from them. But it felt like leaving their toxicity was like such a burden and I genuinely felt so much lighter.
So even speaking about them was not something I even wanted to do because it felt like I was going to summon
