In the chaos, Cade shielded Vivienne and bolted.
Before he left, he turned back–eyes burning.
“This isn’t over.”
After they left, Vincent turned to me. His voice was tight.
“That file gets out, we lose everything.”
I stared at Evan’s photo on the wall. Turned to Vincent.
“I need you to do something.”
His head snapped up. Eyes went red.
“Are you sure?”
I nodded once.
He clenched his jaw and walked out.
The next day, Winters Holdings lost the North District bid.
The fallout was immediate. Deals collapsed. Investors pulled out.
Within a week, the board voted me out as CEO.
They locked me in the estate’s private mausoleum. Made me kneel in front of my parent’s urn like some kind of punishment.
I was cleaning their name off the marble when the door slammed open.
Vivienne walked in, all smiles and smugness.
“Look at you. The great San Winters, on her knees like a fucking beggar.”
My hand kept moving across Evan’s name. I didn’t look at her.
“Should’ve hit you harder last time.”
She let out this ugly, grating laugh.

Chapter 4
“You think anyone still gives a shit about you? You’re done. nished. A fucking nobody.”
She placed a hand on her stomach.
“Oh, and I’m pregnant again. Cade’s throwing me a concert.ays he’s got a big surprise planned.”
My hand stopped.
I remembered that three years ago, Cade watched me play and promised me the world.
“I’ll throw you the biggest concert, San. Everyone will know you’re mine.”
Now Vivienne leaned in closer.
“I thought about it–you have to come. What’s a victory without the loser watching?”
She gave me a pitying look, then walked out laughing.
I stared at Evan’s urn for a long moment.
Then my lips curled. Game on.
The night of the concert, Vivienne stood backstage in a custom gown, preening.
Her friends crowded around.
“Cade ordered ninety–nine thousand white roses. And a ten–darat ring. He’s totally proposing.”
“That cripple could never compete.”
Vivienne admired her healed hands.
“As if that bitch ever had a chance.”
Suddenly, the lights cut out.
Before anyone could scream, hands clamped over their moths.
Onstage, the host’s voice boomed through the speakers.
Cade walked out, ring box in hand, and dropped to one knee
White petals rained down from the ceiling–thousands of them, covering the stage like a blanket.
The crowd gasped.

Chapter 4
“This is so romantic!”
A spotlight hit the stage entrance.
But still no one came.
Cade’s smile faltered. His chest locked up. Something was wrong.
A voice suddenly cut through the air.
“Wait–those aren’t flowers!”
“That’s–oh my God, they’re death notes!! The kind mobsters leave on corpses!”
“What the hell is that up there?!”
At that, Cade’s head jerked up.
Hanging from the rafters, suspended by four ropes, was Vivienne.
