Sarah hides behind him, too scared to even cry.

Hotel guests and staff huddle far away, terrified to breathe.

I never look at Connor once.

My eyes stay locked on Sarah behind him.

I walk toward her slowly.

Connor finally moves, shoving me away hard.

I stumble backward. Jake catches me.

Connor pulls Sarah into his arms, staring at her bleeding finger like his heart’s breaking.

He glares at me with pure rage.

“When the hell is this gonna END!”

I look at him and suddenly laugh.

“Connor, does it hurt to see her like this?”

I point at my wrist where the scratches are still bright red.

“Your legal wife matters less than some bitch you keep on the side?”

That word explodes through the entire lobby.

Every eye locks onto Connor and Sarah.

Connor’s face goes red, then white, then red again.

He wants to fight back but can’t say shit.

Because everything I said is true.

Sarah sobs louder in his arms.

Connor holds her, looking completely lost.

Wants to comfort Sarah but scared I’ll say something worse.
