Chapter 11
Chapter 11
The tearing sound echoes harshly through the quiet room.
Connor’s head snaps up, eyes bloodshot.
He stares at the torn report in my hands, his whole body shaking.
“No… Emma, you can’t…”
Richard freezes too. He didn’t expect me to be this ruthless.
“Emma, you…”
I ignore them both and keep tearing.
Once, twice, three times…
Until that report carrying a tiny life becomes unfixable pieces in my hands.
I open my fingers. The fragments flutter down like snow.
“Connor.”
“We’re getting divorced.”
Connor’s body jerks violently.
“No… Emma, I don’t agree!”
“I won’t divorce you!”
He crawls toward my bed on his knees, reaching for my hand. Jake shoves him away hard.
“Don’t touch my sister!”
Jake looks ready to kill.
Connor stares at me, finally crying.
A thirty–something man, heir to Blackwood Corp, sobbing like a child.
“Emma, I was wrong! I know I fucked up!”
“Give me one more chance, please?”

Chapter 11
“We have a baby! We have a BABY!”
“For the baby’s sake, forgive me just this once!”
He’s babbling, desperate.
Baby?
I look at him and almost laugh.
“Connor, now you remember there’s a baby?”
“Too late.”
His mouth opens but no words come out.
What right does he have to mention this baby?
From start to finish, I was the only one dreaming of our family.
And him?
He was too busy fucking his mistress.
I close my eyes, take a deep breath. When I open them, only cold determination remains.
“Connor, I’m not keeping this baby.”
“I won’t let my child have an irresponsible father like you.”
“Tomorrow I’ll schedule the procedure.”
“My lawyer will send divorce papers soon.”
“I don’t want anything. Just my freedom.”
After saying this, I feel completely drained.
I pull the blanket over my head, done looking at him.
I hear Connor’s heartbroken screaming.
Richard’s furious roaring.
Jake’s cold warnings.
But none of it matters anymore.
