Zane’s fingers tightened around the gavel. His knuckles went bone–white.
He wanted this over. Now.
Because every second this dragged on was another chance for his secrets to come crawling out.
But he was trapped.
Every eye in the courtroom was on him.
Hundreds of thousands watching online.
If he refused, he’d look guilty.
Finally, he forced the words out.
“Request granted.”
Mr. Chen stepped forward immediately.
“We are amending our complaint. We’re now charging Judge Lawson with adultery, abuse of power, and obstruction of justice. He has used his position to protect his mistress and her son–at the direct expense of his own child’s safety and legal rights.”
The room erupted.
Zane was on his feet in an instant.
“This is-” His voice cracked. “This is completely out of line.”
The gallery went wild.
The livestream exploded.
“WAIT–adultery? Judge Lawson?”
“She’s lying. She has to be.”
“Look at Emily’s face. She’s WHITE. Oh my God, it’s real.”
“That’s why he kept protecting her. Holy shit.”
Every head turned toward Emily.

Chapter 6
She sat frozen, pale as paper.
I pointed at her.
“That’s right. Emily. Judge Lawson’s mistress.”
Zane bolted down from the bench and grabbed my wrist–hard.
“Stop. NOW.”
“Emily and I are old friends. That’s it. High school classmates. I felt bad for her–single mom, struggling–so I helped.
That’s ALL.”
His voice dropped, urgent.
“You’re upset. Jealous. I get it. But don’t do this. Don’t destroy our family. Don’t make Leo a target.”
I yanked my arm free. My wrist throbbed, but I didn’t care.
I looked right at him. Smiled again.
“If you’re so innocent, then let’s show everyone exactly what ki
ip‘ you’ve been giving her.”
I handed my phone to Mr. Chen.
He connected it to the projector.
The screen lit up.
The video from the hospital.
Zane with his arm around Dylan. Emily holding his hand. The three of them looking like a family.
Next came the bank records.
Three years of transactions.
Nearly a million dollars.
Each one labeled.
“Living expenses.”
“Dylan’s tuition.”
“New handbag.”

Chapter 6
The room went dead silent.
Then came the final piece.
Emily’s messages to me.
“Zane’s always loved ME. You? You’re just keeping the seat warm. He won’t even touch you. Pathetic, isn’t it?”
“Dylan gets whatever he wants. Your son? Zane doesn’t give a damn. Just like he doesn’t give a damn about you.”
The evidence was right there. On the screen. For everyone to see.
The room erupted again–but this time, the fury wasn’t aimed at me.
“He let his own kid get DESTROYED to protect his side piece’s brat?”
“I thought he was honorable. What a joke.”
“Ten years married to that man. God, I can’t even imagine.”
Zane stood there. Didn’t move. Didn’t speak.
Emily collapsed back into her seat, sobbing.
But this time?
Nobody cared.
I watched the shift happen. One by one, people turned away from her. Faces hard. Disgusted.
