The Villainess Needs a Hug (Ivy Windsor) novel Chapter 856

The thought was unbearable to Ivy. "It won't be," she insisted. "The surgery went so well. Everything that follows will go well too."

"Yes. Let's hope so."

The pain from his incision was still present, and the conversation had left Jamison feeling drained.

Noticing his fatigue, Ivy immediately urged him, "Don't talk anymore. You need to sleep. Rest is the fastest way to recover."

"Alright. It's getting dark. You should go get dinner."

"What about you? I think the doctor said you could have some liquids once you were awake."

"Yes…"

"I'll order something to be delivered," Ivy said, taking out her phone. "I'll make the call outside so I don't disturb you."

"Okay."

As Ivy left the room, the calm and collected expression on Jamison's face crumbled, replaced by a grimace of pain.

The incision throbbed relentlessly, a normal part of recovery, but he had hidden it from Ivy to keep her from worrying.

The first night after surgery was never easy.

In the middle of the night, Jamison developed a low-grade fever. The nurse was the first to notice and immediately called the doctor on duty.

They adjusted his medication, but the fever persisted.

Seeing how restless he was, Ivy stayed by his side, applying cool cloths to his forehead and holding his hand to soothe him.

Just before dawn, his fever finally broke.

"Mrs. Ludwig, you should get some sleep. I can take care of him now," the nurse whispered.

But Ivy was too worried. "It's okay, I can do it."

The nurse, having observed the deep affection between the couple, gently insisted, "But you haven't slept all night. You'll be exhausted tomorrow, and Mr. Ludwig will worry when he sees you."

Her words made Ivy hesitate.

"Go on, get some rest. I'll watch him, and I'll call a doctor if anything changes."

Finally relenting, Ivy moved to the spare bed and lay down.
