The Villainess Needs a Hug (Ivy Windsor) novel Chapter 878

If his body had allowed it, he would have swept Ivy into his arms and spun her around right then and there.

After the check-up, they all returned to Jamison's hospital room. The couple was still basking in the joy of discovering they were having twins when Jamison's phone rang.

"It's Grandma," he said, looking at the caller ID, the smile still lingering in his eyes. "What a coincidence. You don't think she somehow sensed it, do you?"

Jamison mused to himself as he answered the call.

"Mom-"

Before he could say another word, Adela Ludwig's voice, a frantic mix of anger and worry, burst through the phone. "Jamison, are you in the hospital? And you lied to us, saying you were away for a training seminar! I knew something was strange. You dote on Ivy day in and day out, how could you possibly stay away now that she's pregnant?"

The smile on Jamison's face froze instantly. He glanced at Ivy, who, sensing trouble, lost her smile as well.

"Who told you?" Jamison asked in a low voice, continuing toward his room.

"Who do you think? Everyone knows! And you kept it from us, your own parents, completely in the dark about something this major!"

Everyone knew?

Jamison was puzzled. The news had been tightly controlled, and things had been quiet for days. How had it suddenly gotten out?

Before he could speak again, the phone was passed to someone else. Danny, who usually clashed with his younger son, was on the line. But upon hearing that his son was sick and in the hospital, the old man's usual irritation was replaced entirely by worry.

"Jamison, what is it exactly? What kind of illness required surgery that you had to hide from us?" his father demanded urgently.

Jamison realized they didn't know it was liver cancer yet, and he relaxed slightly. "It was a minor issue. A small surgery to remove it, and I'll be discharged in a couple of days," he explained, trying to sound casual.

But his father wasn't buying it. "You wait right there in the hospital. Don't even think about leaving. Your mother and I are on our way."

The line went dead. Jamison lowered the phone, looking at Ivy with a troubled expression. "My parents know. They're coming to the hospital now."
