The Villainess Needs a Hug (Ivy Windsor) novel Chapter 879

After flipping through a few of the reports, the old man's face changed, his expression turning tense and grave. "It's a liver condition?"

Seeing what her husband was holding, Adela Ludwig got up and peered over his shoulder. "Jamison, what is it exactly? A common liver problem wouldn't require surgery, would it? You…" Her eyes swam with tears as her mind raced to the worst possible conclusion.

Seeing that the truth was out and Jamison remained silent, Ivy had no choice but to answer for him. "It's early-stage liver cancer. Thankfully, we caught it in time and he had surgery immediately. He's recovering quite well now."

The words had barely left her mouth when the old woman swayed. The butler, quick on his feet, rushed to support her.

"How could this be… You've been healthy your whole life. You're a doctor, you know how to take care of yourself. How could you get liver cancer at such a young age…?" Adela Ludwig's voice trembled as she mumbled in disbelief.

Ivy glanced at Jamison, squeezed his hand, then turned back to his parents. "Illness is something no one can control. The important thing is that we got treatment right away. The doctors said that with follow-up therapy, a full recovery is entirely possible. Jamison didn't tell you because he was afraid you would worry and it would affect your health."

Despite her reassurances, the old woman couldn't stop crying for her son.

With no other options, Ivy decided to play her trump card.

"Dad, Mom… let's not talk about this right now. You came at the perfect time. Jamison just accompanied me for a prenatal check-up, and we have some good news to share."

Jamison frowned and tugged at his wife's hand. Ivy looked back at him, puzzled. He pouted, his face still cold with anger over his mother's earlier outburst at his wife. He didn't want them to hear the good news, at least not yet.

Ivy knew him too well; one look told her exactly what he was thinking. She shot him an exasperated eye-roll, dismissing his childish behavior.

Over on the sofa, her in-laws, hearing no follow-up, grew impatient. "What about the check-up?"

Ivy turned to them with a small smile. "The doctor said I'm carrying identical twins."

Adela Ludwig froze. The sadness, anxiety, anger, and pain all vanished in an instant. She stared at Ivy's still-flat stomach, her eyes darting up and down several times before she managed to ask, "Identical… twins?"

"Yes, which means they'll be the same gender and look almost exactly alike," Ivy explained. "So, it will either be two boys or two girls."
