The Villainess Needs a Hug (Ivy Windsor) novel Chapter 920

"When I was waiting for you earlier, I looked through my photos. We barely have any pictures together. It's just endless shots of our two little terrors."

Ivy understood instantly. She nestled snugly against his chest. "Then let's take a bunch. Just make sure you get my good side."

"You look stunning from every angle."

Jamison snapped the first picture, and Ivy immediately stood on her tiptoes to press a kiss to his cheek, capturing several more frames.

"Come on, there's a cotton candy stand over there! They make those crazy animal shapes. Let's get one as a prop."

At his wife's command, Jamison obediently marched over.

Armed with a massive, duck-shaped cloud of sugar, they posed for dozens of silly, carefree photos.

Jamison even flagged down a passerby to snap a few full-frame shots of them together against the city lights.

If he was destined to leave her before they grew old, he wanted to leave her with as many beautiful memories as possible.

Right in the middle of their laughter, Ivy's phone began to ring.

She pulled it out and rolled her eyes. "It's the nanny. I bet the boys are still awake and raising hell."

The moment she answered, the nanny's frantic voice came through. "Ivy, when are you and Jamison getting back? The boys refuse to take their bath. They're screaming for their dad."

Even over the phone, the chaotic background noise sounded like someone was wrestling wild animals.

Ivy shot Jamison a look. "Your sons are demanding you bathe them."

Jamison checked his watch. It was already nine-thirty.

With the drive back taking an hour, it was time to head home anyway.

He held out his hand, and Ivy passed him the phone.

"Put it on speaker," Jamison instructed. The nanny quickly obliged, trying to shush the boys.

"Daddy!"

"Dad! Why aren't you home yet?!"

"Daddy, I'm a big boy! The nanny can't give me a bath!"

"Dad..."

The twins wouldn't shut up about their father, completely ignoring the fact that their mother existed.

Ivy felt a strange mix of relief and petty jealousy.

Jamison adopted his sternest dad voice. "It's late. Let the nanny wash you tonight, and I promise I'll come home early to play with you tomorrow."

"No! I want you today!" Denis's tiny voice was dead set.

"Daddy has to spend time with Mommy tonight," Jamison reasoned smoothly.

Ivy shot him a look, half-flattered, half-exasperated.

"Mommy isn't a baby! She doesn't need a babysitter!" Floyd chimed in.

"Who says she isn't? Mommy is my baby," Jamison countered effortlessly.

Jamison finished taking off his shoes and smoothly scooped Denis up. "Alone time means exactly two people. You guys aren't invited."

"Then what if it's just me and you? That's two people!" The kid was too smart for his own good.

Jamison couldn't help but laugh. "But I don't want alone time with you."

"Why? Don't you love me?!"

Jamison knew once his sons got going, they would argue in circles until midnight. He wasn't about to entertain this debate.

"Go to sleep. I promise I'll get off early tomorrow to hang out with you."

After placating the younger twin, Jamison turned to his wife, holding one arm out.

Ivy immediately caught on, picking up the older boy and handing him over.

Carrying a squirming toddler in each arm, Jamison marched back toward the nursery. "I'll put them to bed. You go hit the shower."

Ivy stood in the hallway, watching her husband's broad, strong shoulders as he carried their children. Her mind spiraled right back into sheer panic.

The boys worshipped him. If the unthinkable happened, what were they going to do?

...

Half an hour later, Ivy emerged from the bathroom just as Jamison returned from the nursery.

"It's already eleven. Go shower so we can get to bed," she urged quietly.
