The Villainess Needs a Hug (Ivy Windsor) novel Chapter 934

Asking for this kind of help was already an immense favor. Expecting a guaranteed success was asking for too much.

Forget fifty million dollars—if it meant saving her husband's life, she would willingly bankrupt herself and drown in debt just for a sliver of hope.

"Let's put a pin in this for now," Boyd insisted. "Convincing Jamison to agree to the surgery is what actually matters."

Ivy immediately chimed in. "Boyd, he's on his way back now. If you're free, come over to the Ludwig estate and talk to him yourself."

"Alright. I'm heading over."

Hanging up, Ivy let out a long, shaky breath. Danny and Adela clung to each other's hands, weeping tears of pure joy.

"Thank God. Jamison is going to live... Danny, call Thad right now. Tell him to start liquidating funds. Whether Boyd wants it or not, we need that money ready. If he does this for us, we are paying him."

Life was priceless. In their eyes, that fifty million dollars wasn't a payout for Boyd; it was the price of their son's life.

Danny nodded fervently and rushed to call his eldest son.

The crunch of tires out in the courtyard signaled her husband's arrival. Ivy jumped to her feet and rushed out to meet him.

Jamison climbed out of the car. Though he had lost a significant amount of weight, his strides were still brisk and commanding.

"Why didn't you tell me you were coming home? I could have come to pick you up!" Ivy hurried over, slipping a supportive hand around his arm.

Jamison let her hold him, slowing his pace slightly as he looked directly into her eyes. "Did you guys contact Boyd?"

"Yes. I guess you already know? Boyd is a match." Ivy didn't beat around the bush. "Boyd agreed to donate. He's on his way here right now. You can ask him yourself, we really didn't pressure him. But your parents did say that as long as he donates, we'll give him shares or cash, whatever he prefers."

Jamison's brow furrowed sharply. "And you call that voluntary?"

Ivy froze, completely speechless.

Jamison pulled ahead, climbing the front steps and walking into the house.

It hit her a second later, the horrifying realization of what he meant.

If there was a financial reward attached to the donation, it was no longer voluntary.

Even if they wanted to show their profound gratitude, it should have been offered after the fact, never before.

Otherwise, it just looked like bribery.

The moment Jamison stepped into the living room, before he could even greet his parents, the two boys realized he was home and sprinted over, wrapping themselves around his legs.

Ivy quickly stepped in, gently peeling the kids off him and coaxing them to go back outside and play soccer with the nanny.

Once the living room quieted down, Adela took in the sight of her son. She hadn't seen him in days. He looked gaunt, stripped of his usual vibrant energy. A wave of sorrow washed over her. "Why didn't you tell us you were coming? Driving all by yourself is so dangerous. You're a grown man, and you still act so impulsively."
