The War God Alpha's Arranged Bride (Evelyn and Alexander) novel Chapter 121

**Steps Along Forgotten Roads**
**By Sophia Reed**
**Chapter 121: A New Kind of Rage**

[Third-Person’s POV]

Alexander’s gaze locked onto his wife, a whirlwind of disbelief swirling within him.

Initially, he thought he had misheard Evelyn’s bold proclamation. It didn’t feel like a mere request; it was an unmistakable demand, one that resonated with an urgency that sent a shiver down his spine. She stood there, her posture rigid, her determination palpable, as she awaited the key to the one place in their home he had vowed to keep her away from.

“No,” he uttered, the word barely escaping his lips before the weight of the moment settled in.

Evelyn’s eyes widened momentarily, her surprise flickering like a flame before it was snuffed out by a wave of indignation. Her expression morphed into a fierce scowl, a mask of resolve that made Alexander’s heart race.

“Give me the key, Alexander.”

“I said no,” he replied firmly, his voice steady despite the turmoil inside him. “I don’t want you going down there. It’s not safe.”

He could feel the tension crackling in the air, thick enough to slice through. Her anger was palpable, escalating with each heartbeat. She stepped back, her eyes narrowing, arms crossing defiantly over her chest as she shot him a glare that could pierce steel.

In that moment, it was painfully obvious to anyone with a shred of empathy that Evelyn was in a fragile state. The vulnerability she exuded was a stark contrast to the fire simmering beneath the surface. Alexander couldn’t shake the feeling that he should have anticipated this confrontation; he should have been prepared for the fallout of this revelation.

Raising his hands in a placating gesture, he spoke slowly, trying to diffuse the situation. “Look, you’re not thinking clearly.”

“Do not treat me like I’m some kind of a mental patient!” she snapped back, her voice laced with bitterness. “I’m telling you right now, my thoughts have never been clearer. It’s because of him that my brother has been fighting for his life.”

“And it’s because of you that he’s still alive,” he countered, letting out a long, deflated breath. “Tell me, what do you think will happen if I hand over this key? Hm?”

Evelyn’s lips curled into a disdainful sneer, her frustration bubbling beneath the surface.

“I’m not planning on attacking Michael with one of those lethal instruments down there, alright? What I intend to do is confront him about everything,” she clarified, her voice steady but laced with an undercurrent of fury.

To be fair, she had briefly entertained the idea of grabbing one of the weapons and hurling it at Michael out of sheer rage. He deserved nothing less.

For months, her brother had been fighting for his life, and she had been relentless in her efforts to help him heal. Despite the insurmountable trials, the obstacles, and the manipulative family dynamics, she was determined to witness the day when Edward would open his eyes and return to her.

She refused to shed another tear because of Michael. The trauma he had inflicted upon her life was far too immense to ignore.

“He deserves to know the extent of the damage his actions have caused!” she declared, her voice rising with conviction. “He needs to be made aware that every action has consequences, and he must be held accountable for what he’s done. No, Alexander, I don’t intend to bludgeon him with something sharp. I plan to verbally tear him apart and make him wish I had used one of those knives!”

Oliver’s eyes widened in disbelief, while Alexander felt a strange thrill at the revelation of his Luna’s hidden ferocity. He knew she was fiercely protective of those she loved, but he never imagined she would contemplate physical violence.

It sparked a thought in his mind—perhaps she should undergo training with a few of his soldiers. She had the passion for it, that much was clear. Moreover, she had a valid point regarding Michael’s misdeeds.

“Okay,” he relented, his voice low. “I will give you the key, but under two conditions.”

Evelyn remained silent, her eyes fixed on him, waiting for the stipulations to unfold.

“First, you are not to enter Michael’s cell,” he stated firmly.

“I wasn’t planning on it,” she replied, her tone clipped.
