The War God Alpha's Arranged Bride (Evelyn and Alexander) novel Chapter 128

**Steps Along Forgotten Roads**
By Sophia Reed
**Chapter 128: A Second Wedding**

[Evelyn’s POV]

“Wait, what?!”

Had he truly uttered the words that had just registered in my mind?

Did Alexander actually just drop that unexpected bombshell in the middle of… this?

For heaven’s sake, the man was sprawled out between my legs, his face nestled snugly against my thighs! His tongue was still teasingly tracing hot, tantalizing strokes against my folds as if he were oblivious to the gravity of his statement.

Alexander continued his exploration as if nothing had happened, and that nonchalance sent my senses into a dizzying spiral. He began to apply pressure with his thumb on my clit, and the heat within me intensified, building like a storm ready to unleash its fury. I felt as though I was being pulled apart, my mind and body at war with one another.

My mind screamed for him to stop and clarify, while my body yearned for him to push me right over the precipice and keep going.

There was something about Alexander that ignited feelings within me I had never known before. He had this uncanny ability to play my body like a master musician, each touch and movement deliberate and infused with intention.

It was electric, fervent, and always fueled by an unwavering determination to ensure my pleasure was fulfilled.

It had never been this way with Liam.

Not that I wanted to dwell on him at a moment like this; yet, it was a comparison that was impossible to ignore. There had been a time when I genuinely envisioned a future with him, believing we could weather any storm together.

But when it came to moments like these, Liam had always been somewhat selfish. Yes, he’d caressed me in ways that felt good, but more often than not, his focus was solely on his own satisfaction. The pursuit of mutual pleasure had never been high on his list of priorities.

Yet, once I had tasted what true intimacy felt like, there was no way I could ever revert back to that mindset again.

A fresh wave of heat surged through me, causing my fingers to grip the blankets tightly.

“Goddamnit, Alexander!” I moaned, my breath coming in quick, erratic gasps that clouded my ability to think clearly. “Y-You can’t just… Ah!”

“Come on, sweetheart,” he coaxed, a teasing lilt in his voice. “I can feel how close you are. Don’t hold back.”

I clenched my jaw, a torrent of choice words bubbling up inside me, ready to spill forth. Damn him! I refused to let him brush aside something so outrageous.

I was resolute in my determination to hold him accountable for his words, no matter how long it took. With a surge of boldness, I reached down, threading my fingers through his hair and yanking his head back. Alexander looked at me, surprise flickering in his eyes, but there was also a hint of amusement.

“Explain to me… Explain what you just said,” I insisted, my voice firm yet tinged with curiosity.

The audacity of this man! He had the nerve to grin and chuckle at my demand. “You heard exactly what I said. I want to marry you. Again.”

Confusion knitted my brows together. Why? Why would he want to marry me again when we were already husband and wife? Surely, he recognized the absurdity of his proposition.

“I… I don’t understand,” I admitted, my voice barely above a whisper. “And if you think I’m going to drift off to sleep now, you’re out of your mind.”

Alexander raised an eyebrow, his smile widening. “Then it seems I haven’t been trying hard enough. Keep your hand where it is, and this time, you’re not allowed to hold back.”

And then there was that startling declaration—Alexander wanted to marry me again…

I inhaled sharply, the realization hitting me like a jolt. As I began to stretch, I felt Alexander shift behind me, a soft sigh escaping his lips.

“Good morning,” he murmured, his voice still thick with sleep.

“Morning,” I replied, turning carefully in his arms until I faced him fully. “Alexander, you need to clarify this whole thing about wanting to marry again.”

A part of me felt guilty for coming off so demanding; however, I couldn’t let his words slip away without a proper explanation.

“I mean, were you being serious?” I asked softly, my heart racing at the prospect.

“Yes, I was,” he affirmed, his gaze steady. “My reasons for wanting to marry you again stem from the fact that our first wedding was far from perfect. You can’t tell me you didn’t feel cheated in some way. It was less than the bare minimum of what it should have been.”

I bit down on my bottom lip, contemplating his words. “Well, it wasn’t what I had envisioned… But once I learned why everything had unfolded as it did, it made sense. You didn’t know who I was, and you didn’t trust me.”

“I want to give us the wedding we truly deserve,” he insisted, his voice earnest. “You’ve mentioned it countless times before—this relationship never began the way it was meant to. We’ve done everything backward. Let’s have a redo.”

I narrowed my eyes, a playful smile creeping onto my lips. “Are you actually asking me to marry you, Alexander Kingston?”

Something unspoken flickered in his eyes, a depth of feeling that sent my heart racing. “Believe me, I fully intend to. But this time, I’m going to do it right.”
