The War God Alpha's Arranged Bride (Evelyn and Alexander) novel Chapter 204

**Steps Along Forgotten Roads**
**By Sophia Reed**
**Chapter 204: The Second Wedding**

[Evelyn’s POV]

Three months had slipped by like sand through my fingers.

As I slowly blinked awake, my senses stirred to life. The golden rays of the sun streamed through the slats of the blinds, casting warm patterns across the room. My hand instinctively reached out to the other side of the bed, where I expected to find Alexander, his presence a comforting weight beside me.

But the space was empty.

A flicker of concern crossed my mind, but it was quickly overshadowed by the realization of the day that lay ahead. Today was not just any day; it was a momentous occasion, a day filled with significance and promise.

“It’s bad luck to see the bride the day before the wedding,” Wendy had warned, her voice echoing in my mind.

Despite the fact that Alexander and I had already exchanged vows in our hearts, we decided to adhere to this tradition, a whimsical choice that felt right. After all, what was one night apart when we had an eternity to share?

After countless evenings spent with Wendy and Nina, the moment had finally arrived when I would once again marry Alexander.

“Today’s the day,” I murmured to myself, a smile creeping onto my lips.

The feeling of déjà vu washed over me, yet I knew that this day would be filled with love and hope rather than the uncertainties that had plagued me before. The morning I had prepared to marry Alexander felt like it belonged to a different lifetime, a distant memory.

Now, I was ready to marry the man I truly knew and adored.

A gentle knock on the door broke my reverie. I swung my legs over the side of the bed and slipped into my robe, anticipation bubbling inside me.

“Come in,” I called out, my voice steady despite the flutter in my heart.

The door swung open, revealing Nina and Claire, both beaming with excitement.

“Good morning, Evelyn,” Nina greeted, her eyes sparkling. “Are you ready?”

“Oh, Nina, she’s far from ready,” Claire interjected, her tone teasing as she clicked her tongue in mock disapproval. “I haven’t even gotten her into her dress yet.”

The gown Claire had designed for this occasion was a masterpiece, intricately crafted to reflect my new status as Queen Luna. I had initially protested, but Claire’s determined scowl silenced my objections.

Reluctantly, I surrendered to her vision, allowing her to work her magic while I focused on the other details of the day. With all the dangers behind us, I could finally devote my attention to the celebration that deserved every ounce of my effort.

Wendy and I had spent countless nights perfecting every detail, while Alexander contributed his thoughts only when absolutely necessary. He had been tirelessly working alongside Oliver to dismantle Gregory’s operations, a task that had proven to be more complex and time-consuming than we had anticipated. Yet, Alexander’s resolve never wavered; he refused to cut corners, and I admired him for that.

As Claire deftly laced up the back of my dress, Nina busied herself with pinning my hair in elegant twists and loops. Once Claire finished applying the last touches of makeup, she approached me with a small black velvet box, a glimmer of mischief in her eyes.

“What’s that?” I inquired, curiosity piqued.

Her smile widened. “Alexander picked this out especially for today.”

With a mix of excitement and apprehension, I opened the box to reveal a breathtaking diamond and pearl necklace, its beauty taking my breath away. Nestled beside it were matching earrings that completed the exquisite set.

“It’s stunning,” I whispered, awe-struck.

“They belonged to his mother,” Nina explained gently. “Wendy kept them safe all these years, and now it’s time for them to be passed on to you.”

Oh no, I could feel the tears threatening to spill!
