**Chapter 299: Outburst**

Judy’s POV

In a mere heartbeat, it felt as though the very foundation of my existence was crumbling beneath my feet. Gavin had deceived me. He had taken Skyla out on a date and kissed her… the proof lay stark and undeniable in this new article, and now I felt utterly foolish for having fallen for such a vile trick.

Hadn’t Ethan taught me anything about trust?

The bitter truth settled heavily in my chest: I couldn’t rely on anyone. They were all capable of betrayal. Ethan, my supposed fated mate, had turned his back on me, and now, here was Gavin, following suit. The sound of the shower ceasing echoed in my ears, and I sprang from the bed, my heart racing. I hastily pulled on a pair of jeans and a simple T-shirt, desperate to escape before he emerged from the bathroom. I wasn’t sure I could bear to look him in the eye right now; the anger boiling inside me was too potent, too raw.

My wolf mirrored my turmoil, a mix of despair and fury coursing through her. What was wrong with me? Why did I keep allowing myself to be manipulated like this?

As I reached the door, it swung open abruptly, revealing Gavin clad only in a towel that clung to his waist. Water droplets glistened on his broad chest, tracing a path down his skin, and for a moment, I found myself entranced, my gaze lingering longer than I intended as the droplets disappeared beneath the towel. Seeing him like this always sent my heart racing, and it took immense effort to tear my eyes away from his physique and meet his gaze.

He was watching me with a bemused expression, clearly amused that I had been caught in the act of ogling him. My cheeks flushed, but it was less about embarrassment and more about the fury bubbling inside me. I turned to leave, but his voice halted me.

“Are you heading somewhere?” he asked, glancing at the clock on the wall. “You don’t have to be at school for a few more hours. I was just wondering how you were feeling. If you want, we could…” His words trailed off as he noticed the hurt etched on my face.

“So, that’s why you spent the night here, even knowing I was sick?” I spat through clenched teeth. “Did you not get enough satisfaction last night that you needed to come here and take more from me?”

His expression darkened, a frown creasing his lips as he narrowed his eyes.

“What are you talking about?”

“Don’t play dumb with me, Gavin,” I nearly shouted, my voice laced with indignation. “I know exactly what you were doing last night, and I feel utterly foolish for believing it was anything other than a date. But it was a lie. You were out on a date with her, and then you came here and had the audacity to lie to me about it!”

A low growl rumbled from his throat as he stepped closer, the tension between us palpable.

“Don’t speak to me like that. You’re crossing a line. Remember who you’re talking to,” he warned, his voice low and dangerous.

I couldn’t help but let out a mocking laugh.

“Oh, trust me. I know precisely who I’m speaking to. You’re a liar, and I should never have trusted you. You’re all the same!”

“What’s the meaning of this outburst?” he demanded, his eyes glowing an intense yellow as his wolf surged to the forefront, battling for control. I couldn’t help but wonder if he was contemplating tearing into me.

“Are you still pretending to be oblivious?” I retorted, pulling out my phone.

I opened the article and thrust it toward him, watching as his eyes widened, taking in the damning photo beneath the headline. He was momentarily speechless, caught red-handed in a web of lies, and I could see the gears turning in his mind as he struggled to find a way to charm his way out of this mess.

“Still going to pretend it wasn’t a date?” I muttered bitterly, my heart racing with a mix of anger and betrayal.

“I should go,” he said, rising from the bed with urgency. “I have some business to attend to. But I’ll see you later at the villa.”

I nodded, feeling numb, as I watched him get dressed with quick, deliberate movements. He barely glanced in my direction, and I couldn’t help but wonder what thoughts swirled in his mind. I didn’t ask; I knew if he wanted me to know, he would have told me.

Without another word, he exited, leaving me alone with a whirlwind of thoughts.

At school, I confided in Nan about everything, and she chided me for forgetting the root of my anger in the heat of the moment, but she was relieved I didn’t let it ruin my day. Truthfully, I hadn’t thought about Skyla or the kiss since that morning. My mind was consumed with thoughts of Gavin nearly losing control of his wolf during our encounter.

Did he almost mark me?

What would prompt his wolf to desire that? And why did the thought thrill me?

It made no sense, but I resolved not to dwell on it too much. I had to get through my session with Matt and pretend as if nothing had happened.

When I arrived at the villa later that evening, I was taken aback by the bustling film crew. Apparently, they were starting a filming session in Gavin’s villa, but thankfully, the parlor had been cleared, allowing me to tutor Matt in peace.

After we finished his homework, we stepped outside to spar a bit before I left for the evening. However, I noticed filming occurring on the training grounds. Gavin was deep in conversation with Skyla, who was draping her arms around him, and he stood there, allowing her to touch him without protest.

A surge of furious rage coursed through me, and before I could comprehend my actions, I found myself growling!
