Chapter 452 Side Story: They’re Not Right for Each Other
“They look amazing standing next to each other. What a couple.”
Under a sudden flood of attention, even Larissa, who normally had a thick skin, felt her cheeks warm. She smiled at him. “It wasn’t that I was keeping it from you. It just didn’t feel necessary to say. What are you doing here?”
Wesley looked at her with open affection. “Buying some ingredients. I heard that Healing Fragrance was extraordinary. Perhaps the chairwoman would walk me through it personally?”
Larissa’s heart gave a small, wild leap. She nodded, a little shyly.
That was the exact moment Nelson came back over, saw Wesley, and felt every protective- brother alarm he owned go off. He pulled his little sister behind him and looked at Wesley warily.
“Larissa. Keep your distance. What is your relationship with Mr. Robinett? You two look awfully close. Don’t tell me you’re…”
Larissa’s face went redder. She was caught red-handed.
If Nelson found out, with his mouth, the entire family would know by dinnertime.
She rushed to deflect.
“Nelson, don’t jump to conclusions. A man in Mr. Robinett’s position, how would he be involved with me?”
Wesley saw her dodge the question and immediately stepped forward, his voice serious.
“Mr. Sowle. Larissa is a wonderful woman. I’m in love with her.”
Nelson’s eyes went wide. He stared at Wesley in complete disbelief, then whipped his head around to stare at Larissa.
“Larissa. Is this true?
“You and him?
“You’re too young to be dating.
“And he’s a predator.
“You’re a rabbit. He could eat you alive, and you wouldn’t even notice.”
Larissa kept her head down, twisting her fingers in her shirt. “Nelson. It’s true.”
Nelson’s face was complicated. He was worried Larissa was going to get hurt. Wesley was, admittedly, a formidable man, but they weren’t right for each other.
He hesitated, then said seriously to Wesley, “Mr. Robinett. My little sister is pure and good- hearted. If you dare mistreat her, I will not let it go.
“Until you’re married, I expect you to keep a respectful distance from her.”
A man of Wesley’s caliber was intimidating. This was going to have to be his father and his eldest brother’s problem to handle.
They had just gotten Larissa back. None of them wanted her to be dating this early.
Especially not a man this ruthless.
They weren’t right for each other.
Wesley lifted the corner of his mouth and nodded seriously. “Mr. Sowle. You have my word. I will take care of her.”
Larissa watched the exchange with a chest full of something warm and sweet.
Since when had Wesley been this respectful?
He was actually lowering his head for her.
The crowd around them was watching with open envy, whispering about the gorgeous pair.
