The Wife He Never Meant to Love (Lila and Damon) novel Chapter 200

Chapter 200

Chapter 200

Bryan leaned back in his chair, still shaking his head.

“You know what?” he said, glancing at the doctor. “Now that you mention it… I remember a few things too.”

The doctor smirked. “Oh? This should be good.”

Bryan crossed his arms, clearly enjoying himself now.

“There was this one time,” he began, “a famous actress cornered him at an event.”

The doctor raised a brow. “Bold.”

“Very bold,” Bryan nodded. “She walked up to him, all confident, smiling like she already won.”

“And?” the doctor asked.

Bryan grinned.

“She said, *Mr. Damon, I’ve heard a lot about you.'”*”

The doctor snorted. “Classic opening line.”

“And you know what he said?” Bryan added.

The doctor leaned in slightly. “What?”

Bryan deadpanned-

*Then stop listening.’*

The doctor burst out laughing.

“No way-”

“I swear,” Bryan said, laughing now too. “She stood there like her soul left her body.”

“That’s cold,” the doctor said, wiping his eyes. “Even for him.”

Bryan raised a finger. “Wait, I’m not done.”

“Oh, there’s more?” the doctor said, already amused.

“There’s always more with him,” Bryan replied.

He leaned forward slightly.

“There was another one. A businesswoman this time. Smart, elegant… definitely his type on paper.”

“Let me guess,” the doctor said. “Not in reality.”

“Exactly,” Bryan said. “She tried to impress him. Started talking about investments, partnerships, future plans…”

“That sounds promising,” the doctor admitted.

Bryan nodded. “Right? Even I thought, ‘Okay, this might actually go somewhere.”

A pause.

“Then Damon looked at her,” Bryan continued, “and said-”

**You sound like a meeting I don’t want to attend.’*

The doctor choked on his laugh.

“That’s illegal,” he said. “You can’t just destroy people like that.”

Bryan smirked. “He didn’t even blink.”

The doctor shook his head. “Unbelievable.”

“Oh, wait-best one,” Bryan added, raising his hand again.

The doctor groaned. “There’s a *best one*?”

Bryan nodded proudly.

Chapter 200

“There was this influencer,” he said. “She followed him around the entire night. Took pictures near him, tried to get his attention…”

“Persistent,” the doctor said.

“Very,” Bryan agreed. “Finally, she walks up to him and says-”

*’Do you know who I am?’*

The doctor already started laughing.

Bryan didn’t even try to hide his grin.

“And Damon goes-”

*’No. And I’d like to keep it that way.’*

The doctor completely lost it.

“You’re lying-”

“I wish I was,” Bryan said, laughing. “She blocked *him* after that.”

“Well, that’s a first, the doctor said, still laughing.

Bryan leaned back, exhaling.

“See?” he said. “Man had zero interest in anyone.”

The doctor nodded, still smiling.

“Except one.”

They both turned their gaze to Damon.

Silent.

Unmoving.

But somehow, still at the center of all those stories.

Bryan’s smile softened just slightly.

“Yeah,” he said quietly. “Only one ever made it through.”

The doctor folded his arms.

“And look at him now,” he said. “Taken down by the only person he couldn’t ignore.”

Bryan let out a small chuckle.

“Honestly?” he said. “Deserved.”

The machines continued their steady rhythm.

Beep.

Beep.

Beep.

But now-

the room felt lighter.

Filled with memories, laughter…

and the quiet certainty that somewhere, somehow-

Damon would come back.

Because a man that stubborn?

Didn’t stay down forever.

Siblings, Secrets, and a Broken Bed

Chapter 200

Lila sneezed again.

“Ah-choo!”

Ina immediately grabbed a jacket and draped it over Lila’s shoulders.

“Oh please, don’t catch a cold,” Ina said, fussing over her.

Lila smiled faintly. “You’re so sweet.”

Ina narrowed her eyes. “Yeah, because I *cannot* handle the pressure at the coffee shop, okay? I’m not like you. I get irritated with mean customers.”

Lila laughed softly. “Oh, so that’s why you’re worried about me? Because you don’t want to take care of me?”

Before Ina could react, Lila reached out and pinched her cheeks.

“Ouch!” Ina protested, pulling back. “That hurts!”

At that moment, the back door opened and Mark stepped in.

“What’s going on?” he asked, glancing between them.

Ina immediately ran to him and pointed at her face. “Babe, your sister pinched me! Look-my cheeks are red!”

She wrapped her arms around his waist dramatically.

“Your sister is so mean,” she added, pouting.

Mark chuckled and pulled her closer, pressing a quick kiss to her lips.

Lila groaned, turning away. “Oh, come on. Lovebirds, please-where’s your decency?”

Ina smirked, still clinging to Mark like a koala.

“Yeah?” she shot back. “Where was your decency back then?”

Lila froze.

Mark blinked. “Wait-what?”

Ina grinned mischievously.

“Babe, did you know your sister and Damon-”

“Ina,” Lila warned.

“-had sex at my place?” Ina finished proudly. “They even broke my poor bed!”

Silence.

Mark slowly turned to Lila.

Lila’s face flushed instantly. “Ina!”

“What?” Ina shrugged innocently. “It’s true! That bed suffered.”

Mark tried-tried-to keep a straight face.

“… You broke her bed?” he asked carefully.

Lila covered her face. “Can we not talk about this?!”

Ina wasn’t done.

“I mean, I walked in and-boom-disaster,” she added. “I didn’t even know whether to be shocked or charge you for damages.”

Mark finally laughed.

Lila groaned louder. “I’m surrounded by terrible people.”

Ina tightened her grip around Mark, smug. “Too late. We’re family.”

Lila peeked through her fingers, still embarrassed.

“That was a long time ago,” she muttered.

Ina raised a brow. “Oh? But the *impact* remains. My bed remembers.”

Mark laughed again, shaking his head.

“Now I understand why you needed a new one,” he said.

Lila grabbed a nearby pillow and threw it at Ina.

“Stop talking!”

Ina dodged easily, laughing. “Okay, okay! I’ll stop… for now.”

But her grin said otherwise.

Lila sighed, pulling the jacket tighter around her shoulders.

“Next time I sneeze,” she muttered, “I’m doing it somewhere else.”

Mark smirked. “Too late. Damage already done.”

-Ina nodded seriously. “Just like my bed.”

“INA!”

The room filled with laughter.

And for a moment-

everything felt normal.
