“Hey.” Ina said with a grin, leaning back on the sofa. “I heard Ethan’s back in town. Want to ask him out for dinner? Now that you and Damon are officially proceeding with the divorce.”
“No.” Lila replied softly. “I troubled him before… no need.”
She didn’t want to disturb Ethan now that his life was peaceful. It was better to keep her distance.
“How about we go have a drink instead?” Ina suggested, leaning forward.
“Come on,” he added excitedly. “Let’s celebrate that Damon is finally willing to sign the divorce papers.”
Lila let out a faint, dry laugh.
“Don’t tell me you don’t want to leave Damon and plan to stay a martyr beside him,” Ina teased.
“No, of course not,” Lila replied, standing up and stretching. “Okay, let’s go.”
She walked straight to the front door with a sense of finality.
Outside the apartment complex, a sleek black car was waiting.
“I remember I told you to go back to the villa,” Lila said softly to the driver.
The driver didn’t answer. Instead, he opened the backseat door.
Ina slid in first, settling comfortably. “Come on, Lila, no time to waste,” he said.
Lila slid in beside him. “Take us to Silvermoon Bar,” she instructed firmly.
She was certain Damon wouldn’t be there-probably at the hospital with Maddy or wherever else they were. And honestly… she didn’t care.
The car’s engine purred to life, gliding into the city streets as Lila leaned back, letting herself finally feel a faint sense of freedom.
The private lounge was dimly lit, a warm amber glow reflecting off polished wood and glass. Lila and Ina settled into a secluded booth, the city lights flickering softly outside the tall windows.
A cute young server approached, balancing a tray with skillful grace. He smiled politely as he set down the drinks.
Ina nudged Lila lightly. “Isn’t he a cute boy?” he whispered, his eyes lingering on the server.
Lila laughed softly, her lips curling into an amused smile. She motioned toward him. “Come sit here,” she said to the server, patting the space beside her as he poured her drink.
The server hesitated, then smiled politely. “Of course, Miss.”

“And what’s your name?” Lila asked, tilting her head slightly.
“I’m Raven, Miss,” he replied, his voice calm and warm.
“Oh, nice name,” Lila said with a nod, swirling her drink casually.
“Do you have a girlfriend… or a wife?” she asked, her eyes sparkling with playful curiosity.
Raven shook his head and smiled. “No, Miss. There’s no woman in my life right now.”

The conversation flowed easily after that, drifting from casual topics to funny stories, the kind of relaxed, effortless talk that made the lounge feel like a little bubble separate from the city outside.
Then, abruptly, the door burst open.
Damon.
His presence was commanding, and the room seemed to darken instantly. His eyes locked on Lila.
He saw her sitting close to the server, laughing and smiling in a way that seemed almost… seductive.
Damon’s jaw tightened, and a shadow crossed his face.
“Oh… Mr. Blackthorne, you’re here,” Lila said smoothly, raising her glass of whiskey to her lips as if nothing could rattle her.
The clink of the glass echoed softly in the tense silence that followed.
Raven felt the weight of Damon’s gaze immediately.
“Oh-excuse me,” he stammered, stepping back toward the aisle.
But Lila’s hand shot out and caught his wrist.
“Where are you going, babe?” she asked with a teasing smile. “Stay here.”
Raven hesitated, unsure, then slowly moved to sit back down.
Damon’s eyes narrowed, sharp and dangerous. “If you dare sit again, I’ll smash that face,” he warned Raven coldly.
“Leave,” Damon added shortly.
Raven swallowed hard, nodded, and hurriedly left the lounge.
Lila settled back into the booth, swirling the whiskey in her glass.
“It seems my dear husband is jealous,” she said with a playful smirk, tipping the glass back and drinking it all in one go.
She set the empty glass down. “Oh, let me correct myself… it’s my dear ex-husband,” she added, the smile

Damon’s voice was low, controlled, yet carrying that same dark amusement he always had. “It seems my lovely wife is still talking nonsense.”
Before she could respond, Damon strode forward and scooped her up, effortlessly lifting her onto his shoulder.
“Damon! Put me down!” Lila exclaimed, flailing slightly.
But Damon ignored her protests, walking out of the lounge as if the world no longer existed around them.
“Talking to you sensibly now is a waste of breath,” Damon said, his voice low and teasing as he carried her.
“Stupid dog!” Lila shouted, struggling in his grasp.
“Woof,” Damon replied calmly, a smirk tugging at his lips.
Damon slid Lila into the passenger seat of the car before walking around to the driver’s side.
By the time he started the engine, Lila was already passed out, her head tilted slightly against the seat.
The city lights flashed across her face as he drove back toward Forest Villa.
Damon glanced at her from time to time.
Even in sleep, her small face looked stubborn.
He smirked faintly.
When the car finally stopped, Damon leaned closer, studying her quietly for a moment. Then he planted a soft kiss on her lips.
“I’ll never let you go, Lila. Never,” he whispered.
When Lila woke up, the room was dim.
She blinked slowly.
She was already in bed.
Her dress was gone, replaced with a familiar silk nightgown.
And heavy arms were wrapped tightly around her waist.
Damon.
Lila frowned and tried to slide away from his embrace.
But his hold tightened slightly, pulling her closer.

Without lifting his head, he rested his face in the crook of her neck and inhaled deeply, as if memorizing her
scent.
“Let’s take a shower together,” he whispered lazily.
Lila’s eyes flickered.
Why not? she thought.
Since we’re going to separate anyway… it would be a waste if I don’t enjoy this man’s body one last time.
A small smirk appeared on her lips.
“Okay. Let’s go,” she answered casually.
Damon paused.
For a second, he was clearly caught off guard by her response.
Then a slow grin spread across his face.
Without another word, he scooped her up in his arms and carried her straight to the bathroom.
The warm water soon filled the room with steam.
Under the cascading water, whatever distance and anger existed between them disappeared for a while.
They clung to each other like two people starving for warmth.
Like two wild creatures that had been holding back for far too long.
And in that moment-
They devoured each other without restraint.
