Chapter 12
Amber
What a ridiculous blunder I made in my haste to one up Connor!
yous
I just wanted to dig a hole in the ground and disappear. But with so many gazes on me, particularly Connor I had no option but to act cool.
The bouncer was still looking at me with surprise, and a bit of confusion. I quickly pulled my hand away fro his shirt.
“Sorry, I am expecting someone and thought it was you. The lights tricked me.” I gave him a weak smile and felt extremely embarrassed as the girls all giggled and started gossiping with each other, pointing a finger at
Connor’s hand reached out for the tall bouncer and slapped him on the shoulder playfully.
“Relax David. She got you confused for someone else”
I gave him a big smile and he smiled too. “Happens, doesn’t it? But miss, I got a wife waiting for me back home.”
That line made the girls cackle even louder because it made me seem like a desperate chick who was after married men.
I spun around on my heels, fully prepared to give them a piece of my mind but then I realized Connor was still staring at me, that devious glint evident in his eyes.
“Stay away from me!” I hissed at him, much to the disappointment of the girls circling him like hyenas.
“And what makes you think he would want to come near you, four eyed owl?” One of the mean blonde girls cackled and the other girls laughed like they hadn’t heard anything funnier.
I didn’t say a word to her but directed my gaze at Connor.
“No doubt birds of the same feather flock together” I gritted my teeth and glared at him, making my message
clear.
He was just as mean and cunning as the shallow, dimwitted girls he attracted.
“What did you say?” Blondie asked but I was spared from giving a reply as I heard someone call out my name,
“Sienna?”
I turned around to see a tall and buff guy with slightly curly hair look at me expectantly Just like Jane had stated, he was wearing very right fitted clothes
His white t–shirt was almost straining with the effort to stretch over his broad torso and cover his bulging muscles. A bracelet dangled from his arm that he extended at me.

Chapter 12
“Jake?” I asked this time to be certain.
He nodded and I raised my hand to slip into his effortlessly.
When I turned around to look at Connor, his smile had disappeared completely. He was staring from me Jake and our joined hands that Jake still hadn’t let go.
I beamed at him as he slowly raised my hand to kiss my knuckles.
“Sorry to have kept you waiting” He said, bowing a little and I instantly felt giddy, less because he was being chivalrous but because Connor looked pissed.
I laughed like a maniac internally as Jake extended his hand towards one of the corner booths.
“Shall we?” He asked with a bright smile.
“Of course” I nodded and walked with my chin held high, looping my arm through Jake’s.
I even made it a point to sway my hips a little as I strutted away from Connor. I could feel his gaze digging in the back of my skull and I was clearly relishing it.
After the mishap earlier, my night was officially going to start like I wanted.
We reached our table and Jake’s arm brushed my elbow as he pulled up a chair for me.
Feeling elated, I gave him a wide smile, throwing a side glance at Connor whose eyes were still on us.
Eat that sucker!
“You are so strong” I said, casually leaning forward to brush my fingers against his arm.
He pumped up his bicep to give me a good look.
“Yeah, I spend a lot of time exercising. I like to stay fit”
“As you should.”
We got comfortable in our seats and I stole a glance again at Connor who had been last standing by the side with the flock of girls.
But he wasn’t there now.
I searched and noticed him slip in a seat that allowed a clear view of us. The group of girls all settled beside
him.
Blondie had scooted particularly close to him and her hand was already on the button of his shirt.
I looked away to focus on whatever Jake was rambling in front of me.
“Where are our friends? Weren’t they joining us?” I asked as I scanned through the menu, keeping one eye on Connor who seemned to enjoy all the attention he was getting.

Chapter 12
I couldn’t believe girls were salivating for him of all the guys out here. So what if he looked wickedly deli and puberty had turned him from a gangly kid to a handsome devil with a smile that made you forget the
He was still the rotten bully from inside. Looks didn’t change what you are on the inside, after all!
“There they are!” Jake pointed at the door and I was relieved to see Jane walk in through the main entrance the ground floor below with a guy I remember her showing me a picture of.
I waved at her and she was already motioning for me to come down and dance with them.
When I turned to look at Jake, I saw him already staring at my cleavage.
“Shall we?” I asked but he licked his bottom lip before dragging his gaze back to my face.
“Sure”
I felt a little awkward to catch him staring and got up hastily but my foot got caught in something, making m almost stumble.
Jake’s hand grabbed me by the waist and he pulled me closer even as I felt his hand stay on the small of my back, inching just a bit lower towards my ass.
“Are you okay?” He asked, his eyes staring at me with that same lust.
I stole a quick glance at Connor to see that Blondie had already climbed into his lap.
