Sandra had always been very discreet about her behavior and real intent. She would act nice in front of me but wish me all the rotten luck so it was surprising to hear her so clearly threaten me.

Usually I would have just stared at her in silence but not anymore.

“Did you forget the way Connor and I shared a kiss in front of everyone? The eldest son gets the alpha title and I am his partner.”

Sandra was taken aback to hear me talk like that. She had expected me to maybe just cower in fear maybe.

Her nostrils flared like an angry bull. “Not anymore. Thanks to you and Connor’s little drama last night, he is not getting a clean sweep to the title anymore.”

She looked back at the elders who were talking among themselves, particularly at Elder Johanson and smiled at him. He smiled back as well.

“I saw to it”

Then raising her voice, she said to elder Johanson. “Feel free to call for me if you need anything”

Elder Johanson nodded and then she flipped her hair like she had already won this battle.

But she was still lingering, meaning she wanted to see me get humiliated or something again.

I cursed myself for sleeping through the day but truth be told I had been exhausted with the preparations of the dinner and then by the river with Connor.

He had risked it all for me and I wasn’t going to make him lose his birthright just because he stood up for me.

I quickly pulled out my phone and typed him a message.

Me: Where are you? I need to talk.

His reply came a second later. Swamped with work. Anything urgent?

Me: Not really. Just let me know when you are free.

Him: Sure thing, my luna

I got those butterflies in my stomach upon reading the last two words and a smile appeared on my lips automatically.

I was going to be his luna and Connor was going to be my alpha, just to wipe that cocky smile from Sandra’s face!

I turned around to the elders who were chatting again.

“Sorry to interrupt but could you let me know what would you all like to have for dinner tonight?”

Elder Johanson was the first to answer.

“No shellfish or any seafood at all”

My gaze flicked to Elder Maren and her crumpled face. She had been so delighted to have the food served in front of her, only to be snatched away because Johanson threw a tantrum.

“Of course. Any other requests?” I asked the crowd in general and once again Johanson butted in.

“Are you hard of hearing girl? I already told you”

Keeping the smile still on my face was a monumental effort but I didn’t let it waver.

“Yes, Elder Johanson, I heard you. But I wished to know if the others had any preferences as well.”

He narrowed his eyes on me. “I answered on their behalf. Stop annoying us with your stupid questions.”

“Elder Johanson, I respect you and your opinions but I truly think Elder Maren wanted to speak something. Even Elder Kosta, I believe.”

Elder Johanson looked at me and then at the two people I had mentioned.

“What do you want to say?” He growled at them.

Elder Maren hesitated. “I was thinking of having our traditional shellfish tonight since you mentioned plans of going out with Sandra for a tour of the city.”

Elder Johanson fumbled. “Well, that plan hasn’t been confirmed yet. It depends on Aaron’s availability and…”

But I quickly added. “I am sure Aaron will find time for you. And even if he doesn’t Sandra is capable of being an excellent tour guide herself.”

Then I looked at Sandra. “Right Sandra?”

She looked pale for a second. “I- yes”

Before she could say more, I added. “In fact, Sandra knows so many exclusive spots in the city and her friend circle consists of all affluent people as well.”

Elder Johanson’s eyes glimmered at that. “Oh really?”

Sandra looked like she was regretting her decision of showing off in front of him already.

“Yeah, I mean my father is one of the elites in the city like alpha asher”

“Wonderful” I clapped my hands together, smiling brightly.

“Its settled then. Sandra will give you an exclusive tour of the city, show you all the modern places around here, get you to taste international cuisine. In fact, I was thinking why just limit to this city, she can just hop

“Oh don’t get carried away, Sienna” Sandra hastily jumped in. “The other elders also need my attention and care. Not all of them love traveling and I dont want to be biased even if I would absolutely love showing Elder Johanson around.”

“Perfect, dont you worry about the rest of the elders. I will look after them. Elder Maren can have her shellfish while you take Elder Johanson on a fine dining experience. Win win right?”

I tried to hide the smile on my lips as she replied dryly. “Yeah, but I will go check on Aaron first”

With that she turned around and left. I caught sight of Maria whose shoulders were shaking with laughter as she passed by the front yard.

And then my phone buzzed again.

Connor: I got an hour free before dinner, come over in the office

I was delighted as I walked back through the main entrance, feeling happy to have one upped Sandra and I was sure Connor would be proud of me.

I couldn’t wait to tell him the incident. But before I did, a figure appeared walked in through one of the several doors.

His gaze met mine and I stopped dead in my tracks. I looked around to see there was nobody in the hall again.

“Follow me” He said a second later and I braced myself for another round of lecture as I stepped into his office.
