Chapter 18
Sienna
My head felt like someone had taken a jackhammer to it.
That was my first coherent thought when consciousness finally decided to make an unwelcome appearan
The second thought was: where the hell am I?
I cracked one eye open, immediately regretting it when sunlight stabbed directly into my retina like a personal vendetta from the universe.
“Ow,” I groaned, squeezing my eyes shut again.
My mouth tasted like something had died in it. Possibly my dignity.
I forced both eyes open this time, blinking against the offensive brightness, and took stock of my surroundings.
This was definitely not my room.
My room had posters on the walls and clothes strewn across every available surface like an explosion. My room smelled like old books and the lavender candle Mom kept buying me in a futile attempt to make me more “zen.”
This room was… sophisticated and chic.
The furniture was all clean lines and expensive–looking wood. The walls were a muted gray that probably had some fancy name like “Dove Whisper” or “Existential Dread.” There was actual art on the walls, not posters. but real framed prints that looked like they cost more than my entire wardrobe.
Even the bed I was lying in felt expensive. The sheets were impossibly soft, the kind that rich people probably never slept in but that made me want to cocoon myself and never leave.
But then whose bed was I in?
Panic started to claw its way up my throat as I sat up slowly, the room spinning slightly with the movement.
I looked down at myself and felt a fresh wave of horror
I was still wearing the slutty red dress that had seemed like such a good idea last night but now felt like evidence of some crime I couldn’t quite remember committing.
It was wrinkled and twisted around my body at odd angles, and when I reached up to touch my hair. I realized it was messier than a bird’s nest.
Thankfully, I found my glasses were sitting on the nightstand and I grabbed them, shoving them onto my face

The world snapped into focus, which was both a blessing and a curse because now I could see exactly ho not–my–room this room was.
I needed to find my phone and call Jane.
I needed to figure out what the hell had happened last night because the last thing I remembered was-
Dread filled in my heart the moment memories started flooding back in vivid detail.
I had
gone to the club for a date with a random guy. What was his name again?
I scratched my chin trying to recall but the details about him were all blurry but it was something forgettab just like him.
Like an idiot with one brain cell I agreed to the tequila shots that had seemed like a brilliant idea at the time but now felt like a personal attack from past–me to present–me.
I shuddered when I recalled how his hand had roamed over me and pushed that memory away before it could fully form.
And then my mind reminded me of another guy who I hated with every bit of my living, beating heart.
Connor.
I remembered yelling at him but what for…that slipped past me as I dug the heels of my palms into my eyes to force myself to remember.
But instead a headache shot up my already sleep deprived, exhausted brain.
A car had nearly turned me into a pancake and Connor forced me to get into his car.
And then… nothing.
I had either passed out or blacked out, and neither option was particularly comforting.
I scrambled around the bed, searching for my phone, my purse, any indication of what the hell had happened after Connor saved my life.
My purse was on the floor next to the bed, its contents partially spilled out. I grabbed my phone and pressed the button, squinting at the screen.
It was 2:17 PM in the afternoon.
I’d slept through the entire morning and well into the afternoon.
I groaned in frustration.
Mom was going to kill me. If I survived whatever fresh hell I’d woken up in, that is
There were seventeen missed calls from her, along with a progression of texts that went from concerned C’Sweetie, are you okay?“) to annoyed (“Sienna, answer your phone) to borderline threatening Cll you don’t
