Chapter 187
Sienna
I hesitated, fingers tightening on the bag which made creases appear on the fabric.
I checked if the towel was tucked firmly under my arms. My hair still dripped down my back despite the turban.
Even if he had seen me naked multiple times, walking in on him with nothing but a towel wrapped around me that would still leave all of the marks on my legs and neck exposed felt too much.
Everything about this felt too brazen.
But the bathroom was small and the mirror was still fogged and I was starting to feel ridiculous arguing with my reflection.
So I inhaled deeply and finally pulled the door open just to a slit to take a peek outside.
Connor was already dressed and looking impossibly put together for a man who’d nearly died the night before.
Black pants that fit like they’d been tailored for the long, muscular line of his legs were paired with a knitted beige sweater that made his shoulders look even broader than usual.
He was bent slightly, tying the laces of dark boots, sleeves pushed up enough to show a bandage peeking near his wrist.
I looked at him from head to toe and for one full second I forgot about the arena, his bite marks as well as the fact that I was standing there in nothing but a towel.
Then without even looking at me, he asked.
“Like what you see?”
“I was just…”
A slow smirk curved his mouth as he straightened. “Stunned? Drooling?”
“…annoyed that you are still here”
He was about to say something but then I saw him roam his gaze all over me, noticing his artwork on my body.
I tried to not shiver under his gaze as he slowly raised his eyes to meet mine and added.
“I know I’m handsome. Get ready now.”
The audacity to say I was drooling for him when he just spent a minute raking me up and down!
I frowned, heat rising again despite every effort, and dropped the garment bag on the extra bed with more force than necessary.
I unzipped it, expecting just another pretty gown to greet me but stared at the outfit he had chosen for me.
It was a beige turtleneck sweater paired with a high-waisted black midi skirt that looked soft and expensive along with a wide leather belt and knee high boots that I had never worn before.
The dress was modest, it covered me up from head to toe, ensuring no part of my skin on the marks would be exposed.
But then I looked back at him and a jolt straight through my chest, that he’d chosen the exact pattern he was wearing himself, matched down to the color and fabris. We were going to walk out of this hospital as a matched set and like a couple that paired every linie detail

“It’s cold today,” he added, rolling his own sleeves a little higher. “And you were shivering…”
thanks but I dont really wear such clothes”
“Oh, I thought they would keep you warm all day. Besides, I didn’t think making you fight with a corset was a good idea. Bu if you wish to, we can get you a backless gown with a thigh high slit and….”
My mouth fell open to see how detailed he could get in describing an outfit of the opposite gender.
“You were going to make me wear a corset?”
He shrugged, too pleased with himself. “I’d have helped if you got stuck. I’m very good with laces.”
“Just how much time have you spent researching women’s fashion?” I blurted out.
“Research? I got practical experience taking off the nastiest of clasps in record time” He answered too casually, the words tumbling out of his mouth like it was nobody’s business.
I did not take the bait to ask how many girls he’d undressed or how fast he was with it.
The question sat on my tongue like a live coal and I swallowed it whole, grabbing the sweater instead and yanking it over m head in a hurried rush.
The fabric immediately tangled with the towel and my damp hair. I struggled with my arms half-raised, vision blocked by beige knit.
The towel threatened to slip entirely so I started tugging it even more frantically and was gasping for air because the towel and the sweater had gotten tangled.
I walked around and hit my toe against the bed while trying to frantically free myself.
“Relax”
But I kept struggling and then a second later, I was pulled away from the bed and felt my chest collide against a solid brick wall that was breathing.
Warm hands settled on my waist.
“Hold still, you clumsy girl” Connor said quietly but most of the teasing was gone from his voice.
I did as he asked.
He was close enough I could feel his heat through the thin barrier of the fowel.
His fingers were careful as he tugged the sweater down, easing it past the towel without letting anything fall. adjusting the turtleneck against my throat.
Every brush of his knuckles against my skin felt like a spark.
I tried not to shiver but failed spectacularly.
“Stand Still.” he repeated with a tad bit of more authority, so soft it barely counted as a command,
“I can’t breathe”
“Just a second”
He turned me around, back to hum, and I felt the careful slide of his hands gathering my damp hair, freeing it from the sweater strand by strand until it tell against my neck and shoulders.
