I paced the length of the bedroom for what had to be the thunteth tine, phone clutched so nighly the edges dug into my palmis
Just then my phone rang, startling me so bad I nearly dropped in
Jane’s name flashes on the screen and I received the call immeidately
“So miss he doesn’t want me, did you again forget to give me an update?”
“Jane, if you are going to start lecturing me again, I am going to disconnect”
“Okay, fine But I’ve been anxiously waiting for an update from you and you just went silent. No tell me, did you talk to him?”
I nodded then realized stupidly she wasn’t around to see me do that so answered “Yes, training starts today”
Jane must have let out a whoop for I heard her jump and shout
“Yay baby, now we rolling”
But I groaned. “Have you looked at him? He has six packs and washboard abs, he is literally a wall made of brick, no of cold, hard iron. He lost so much blood yet he is walking around like nothing happened. And he is going to train me.”
“Oh shit” Jane matched my concerned voice. “How do I not faint when the tall broody, hot as fuck man! drool over every two seconds teaches me how to exercise”
Jane!!!”
She cackled. “Okay, just don’t cry. You are overthinking this way too much, babe. Why would you need his help if you were perfect? You asked for it because you lack in some areas, he already knows your wolf is struggling so relax…he will go easy on you.”
Her words did little to calm me.
“I hope so. He asked me to come to the gym at 9 pm. I am seared.”

I bit on my lower lip nervously.
“Oh you have no reason to be, honey. Just think of it as a sexy, hot session of you getting t
body moves, the way he breathes after a hard workout.”
“Jane, this is serious”
“Yeah. I am serious too, just act confident and if you fumble, look at him like an innocent dove, bat yus eyelashes a little and ask him to go easy on you because its your first time”
I groaned “You’re nuts”

I heard her giggling quite clearly. “Okay, now some solid advice. Look up some beginner friendly exercise on the internet. But don’t overwhelm yourself. Breathe in and breathe out.”
Ooh that idea hadn’t truly occurred to me.
“Oh my goddess, you are a lifesaver, Jane. I’ll read through immediately.”
She seemed to flip her hair. “Cool now relax and play it cool”
“Okay bye, talk to you later”
“Don’t forget to update…” She was halfway through her line when I disconnected and hastly browsed through fitness articles written by people who clearly enjoyed suffering.
I came across articles and blogs titled “Beginner Full–Body Workout You Can Do at Home!” “Ten Stretches That Will Change Your Life” etc. One even claimed I could just sit and lose fat doing nothing.
Every photo showed smiling humans who looked like they had been assembled in a gym rather than born Their abs had abs.
Mine currently existed only as a vague concept and in my dreams.
I had never trained a day in my life, not properly and browsing through the articles only made the
nervousness worse.
My stomach fluttered with dread mixed with second–hand embarrassment for my future self.
I locked the phone, tossed it onto the bed like it was made of lava, and resumed pacing.
Barely a few minutes later, a soft knock sounded at the door around half past eight.
“Miss Sienna?” Maria’s voice came through, gentle as always. “Would you like dinner brought up?”
I opened the door just enough to see her kind face. “I’m not really hungry tonight. Could I just have a glass of juice?”
She studied me for a second longer than necessary, the way she always did when she suspected I was spiralling, then nodded. “Of course. You should have something light before the training either way”
She looked at my crumpled face and replied. “Dont worry, you will be fine”
Saying so, she closed the door and returned a few minutes later with a tall glass of cold orange juice
“There you go”
She held it in front of me but I was lost in thought so she brought it forward, lifted my arm and close fingers around it.
“Relax, you won’t fail Connor and you won’t make a fool of yourself in front of everyone. The day of the trial is not decided yet.”
I gave her a hesitant smile and gulped down the juice a bit too fast.
The sweetness hit my tongue and did absolutely nothing to calm the nerves jumping under my skin.

“Besides….” She added in a whisper. “The elders are still debating about what the next task should be. ! heard Elder Maren say that the trial should be the same for both the contestants unlike the previous one.
I looked up at her in relief. “She said that?”
Maria nodded. “Yeah, I heard them debating over it. A few other elders backed her too, apparently displeased with the intensity of the last one.”
The knot in my stomach seemed to dissolve just a little.
So if the trial was going to be the same for me and Sandra, she wouldn’t put me through something hellish knowing that she can’t get through it herself.
But that didn’t mean she wouldn’t try to cheat or do something sneaky.
“Thanks a ton, Maria”
That piece of information was not necessarily sharing secret information with me so even Connor wouldn’t mind it.
“You are the best,” I added, feeling my smile return a bit.
“Go on, now. Get ready” She patted my back enthusiastically.
When she left I turned to the small, pathetic pile of exercise clothes I had pulled out of the back of a drawer earlier.
I quickly shimmied out of my sweater and skirt to put on the sportswear Connor had bought for me in advance.
The fit was perfect, and looked good on me, not too tight and breathable.
I didn’t let myself dwell on how he could get the size that perfectly and next pulled on a pair of black training pants with still the tag intact.
It definitely cost much more than what I would pay for it but it was comfortable as well.
I walked to the full length mirror to look at my reflection but the first thing I noticed was the bite marks.
How did I even forget about them?
The bite marks along my neck and collarbone had faded to soft purples and yellows, but they visible if anyone cared to look.
Heat crawled up my face so fast I felt light–headed.
I yanked a loose grey tee over my head, then added an oversized hoodie for good measure, tugging the zipper all the way up to my chin like armour.
Next I also wore long socks and double–knotted the laces of my shiny new shoes because the last thing I needed was to trip over my own feet in front of Connor and give him fresh ammunition to taunt me.
I left the room before I could talk myself into faking a sudden illness.

The Wrong Brother’s Temptation
My sneakers squeaked against the polished floor with every step, announcing my arrival like a particularly wkward trumpet. When I reached the gym door, it was already open. Connor stood inside with his back
me, arms crossed, staring at the far wall like it had insulted his entire bloodline.
He had changed into plain black gym shorts and a dark fitted shirt that clung in ways I refused to acknowledge. That was a sexy back and the gym shorts showed me those wide, bulky columns of legs.
Seriously, why did he have to look good from every angle?
The fresh white bandage on his neck stood out sharply against his skin and the sight of it made somethin uncomfortable twist in my chest.
I opened my mouth to offer a greeting and thank him for taking out the time to train me when he snapped at me.
“You’re late.”
He didn’t even turn around.
