The Wrong Brother's Temptation novel Chapter 221

Chapter 221

Sienna

Jane cracked her fingers and put on her thinking hat.

“Okay. Let’s go through a few options,” she began, cracking her knuckles again for good measure. “One: we disguise ourselves as waitresses and infiltrate from the kitchen. Two: we claim we’re health inspectors to freely roam around the hotel. Three: we hide in the bushes outside and use binoculars like absolute creepers. Four, we…”

“We are not doing any of those,” I interrupted her, already regretting every life choice that had led me o her couch.

“Especially not the bushes. I just got dirt out of places dirt should never be.”

“You’re no fun.” Jane closed the nearest window with a decisive snap.

“Fine. We will just visit that hotel like regular guests.”

“That…doesn’t seem bad” I sighed in relief.

“But first–and I cannot stress this enough–we are not following your fake boyfriend to a fancy restaurant in our pajamas. The hotel staff won’t even let us in if we go like this.”

I looked down at my soft pants and old shirt that I hastily put on to come over here.

“Oh no, I didn’t bring any clothes with me. I didn’t think we would actually be going somewhere.”

“So what did you think we would do? You would rant all night and I would listen to you like an unpaid therapist?”

Jane got up and walked towards her wardrobe.

“Thats mean. I would listen to you too if you need me”

“Yeah, one day”

Jane was rifling through the hangers and began throwing out clothes on the bed, some smacking me on my face.

“Jane, stop!”

She spun around holding two dresses like trophies and beamed at me.

“Here, we got a solution so the problem is solved. You can thank me later for the pink dress”

I only stared at the stuff she was holding in her hands and calling it a dress.

One was a simple short black number which was still a bit decent.

The other was baby pink, barely covered the bare minimum and had two beaded strings that sn the sides.

The dress looked like it would tear at its seams if I just breathed too deeply.

o, 1 said immediately, shaking my head. “You were the pink one”

“I can’t, its a size smaller for me but it should fit you easily.”

“It’s too short.” I grumbled but Jane thrust it in my hands anyway.

“We don’t have time to go shopping,” Jane argued, already grabbing me by the shoulders to force me up on my feet again.

“Put it on. You look great in pink. Connor will lose his mind if he sees you. Or he won’t see you, because we are being discreet. Either way, fashion wins.”

We argued for a solid five minutes. In the end I gave in because the alternative was sitting alone with my own thoughts, and those were currently worse than the dress.

Putting the dress on was a real struggle because after I somehow squeezed myself in it, the zipper refused

to move.

“I really think we should just…”

Jane braced one knee on the bed and yanked it up while I sucked in air like I was preparing for a deep–sea

dive.

“I can’t breathe,” I wheezed once it was finally up and felt the fabric was almost crushing my ribs.

“There you go,” Jane said cheerfully, already stepping into her own black dress.

“You need to worry about Connor smelling you. He has got that awful smelling power thanks to his werewolf genes and you go around announcing yourself like a ‘taste me‘ snack especially to him. It will be very inconvenient for espionage.”

My eyes widened and I slapped my hand on my mouth. “Oh goddess, how did I even forget about it?”

“Relax. And please tell me that you brought the meds along.”

I looked around for my purse and fished through it, we both sighing in relief upon seeing the small bottle.

“Got it”

“Cool, take them right away while I bring in an additional layer of support”

“What do you mean?”

I had barely asked when she found a bottle of perfume and sprayed it all over my head and shoulders like she was bathing me in that perfume.

I coughed and my eyes almost watered due to the intense smell.

I waved away the cloud of scent around me to breathe in fresh air but she sprayed a few more

“Keep this bottle with you and spray on yourself every few minutes.”

And remember to stay far away from him. Even if you see him with a random or known girl promise me you will not approach him for any dramatic confrontation and blow our cover.”

“I…”

She tapped her foot on the floor impatiently.

“Promise me!”

“Fine” I grumbled.

“And no accidental eye contact, or tragic lingering in doorways, keep yourself calm and composed. Can you do that?”

“I think I’m getting cold feet.” I answered honestly.

Connor had already gotten angry and was being cold to me, I hoped he would never notice me or he would be just plain mad at me.

And I didn’t want to know what he would do when he lost his cool.

“Too late.” Jane grabbed my wrist and hauled me toward the door. “Cold feet look terrible with that dress anyway.”

“But we don’t even know where he is meeting her” I reminded her, grabbing my purse.

I had heard of the meeting place but now couldn’t remember it for the life of me.

“I’ve got you covered, dont worry” Jane winked and we stepped out of her apartment. The air was a bit chilly outside and I hoped there was something more to cover myself than her stupid dress.

Jane dragged me all the way to the side of the street then frantically waved at the first taxi passing by.

The taxi driver took one look at us–me in the pink apology of a dress, Jane radiating criminal energy- and already seemed to want to deny us a ride.

But Jane reached for the door handle, opened it and shoved me inside before getting in herself.

“Where to?” he asked gruffly.

“Ashford mansion,” Jane answered, settling in.

Hearing that made his eyes brighten.

“You are friends of the ashford alpha? I would be glad to take you there”

But Jane shook her head vehemently.

“No, you are going to park outside the mansion at a safe distance. And when I tell you to follow a car. you will do so very discreetly.”

The driver’s face went pale at the name. “You want to spy on the Ashford alpha’s family?”
