“Why the hell are you laughing?” I was annoyed that I had a serious problem and she found it funny.
“A woman…you think he spent the night with someone else and now you are so damn jealous, its cute
“I am not jealous, okay?” I huffed.
“Yeah, the smell of burning is reaching me through the phone very well”
“Jane! I am just… worried he would lose his alpha seat if he keeps doing stupid things”
“And how does that concern you? Aren’t you with him to get your precious Aaron?”
I hated when I wanted Jane to comfort me and she would put very annoying, brutal questions in front of
Sometimes, I even wondered if she was my friend or Connor’s.
And I pitied the guy she would end up with…because they would simply butt heads every two seconds.
“He bled to keep the secret intact. How stupid would it be to just throw caution to the wind in the midst of the trials? Besides, he was talking to a woman on call so I am not imagining it”
The last line finally got her attention.
“You heard him talk to some woman. So what, it could be anyone and just work related.”
“No Jane. Who spends an entire night with a woman for work? And then goes to dinner to sign a contract with the same woman? Something is fishy about it.”
“What kind of contract?” she asked suspiciously.
“I am not sure. But I dont feel good about it. And after the training today, my latent wolf is crankier than ever”
“Ooh this is new information. So what exactly are you feeling right now?”
I clutched the phone tightly.
“I want to…stop him from meeting that woman. The way she invited him for dinner and celebration..I felt like I should go to find her and claw her eyes out. Its annoying.”
“That’s called jealousy, darling” Jane circled back to her previous comment.
“That is because he won’t let me take the meds for the training. He says that would hamper in the process so now I am stuck with a wolf that is sending signals to him and after I heard he is meeting some woman, it wants to tear me apart.”
“Good then, you will only awaken your wolf faster” she chuckled.

“I will be dead and the wolf will be the only thing alive at this rate. I need to calm her down so that she won’t create a nuisance for me when she finally emerges. Please, Jane, you know how I’ve always dreamt of
wakening my wolf one day.”
I begged my friend who didn’t immediately add some humor to her reply which told me she was considering it.
Being an alpha’s daughter was great but being one without a wolf was worse than being an omega because you got judged a lot. The only reason my father planned to parade me in front of alphas for an alliance was because he had to invite them to meet me.
An alpha’s daughter with a wolf got invitations from other alpha heirs for a meeting without having to do anything.
Alphas always wanted a strong she wolf by their side so nobody would waste their time meeting a girl with no wolf because that was as good as mating with a regular human girl without the gift of awakening her wolf from the Moon Goddess.
Everybody knew that. Though that was not the reason I wanted my wolf.
I wanted to be looked at with respect and belong in the world I was born in. The reason Johanson or Sandra found it convenient to mock me every step of the way was also because they knew I had no wolf.
Only after pairing up with Connor did I notice people being wary of me, or rather afraid of him a bit because he was my partner,
“Earth to Sienna, where did you go?”
My thoughts had started going down a rabbit hole but her voice dragged me back to the present.
“How bad do you want to know who he is meeting tonight?”
“Like my life depends on it” I answered truthfully and to her credit, Jane didn’t chuckle or tease me which was a relief.
“Fine now, take a deep breath and tell me what all do you know”
“Sure” I looked around and just then saw a maid passing by, who bowed to me on seeing me.
I found a quiet corner, pressed my phone close to my ear and covered my mouth with one hand.
“Like I said, she was being very sweet and flirty with Connor and called him for a celebration dinner tonight. He also said he had fun with her last night”
“First of all, that is definitely bad” Jane agreed with me finally.
“That’s what I’ve been trying to tell you!”
“Second of all, you sound insane right now, I want you to know that.”
“Thank you, very helpful of you” I quipped sarcastically.
“Third of all,” Jane said, and I could practically hear the gears turning through the phone, “we need to spy on your fake boyfriend.”

“There’s a we? And no, Jane, I’m not spying on him.”

s called investigating,” Jane explained, her voice going all excited like she already fully intended to execute this plan regardless of my opinion on the matter.
“We will follow him secretly, sit somewhere discreet and we will observe from a distance. You get to see who the girl is but you will not go over to talk to either of them and expose us. You will not do anything rash. Remember, we are just going to find out the identity of this mystery woman.”
“Okay” I replied in a small voice.
“But will that calm your not so possessive, latent but still very jealous wolf? I have a feeling you might get even more enraged after seeing the girl in person. Maybe, this IS a bad idea after all”
No, I couldn’t abandon this plan. Connor, being the arrogant man he was, would never tell me even if I asked. I had to find out on my own somehow.
And I truly hoped he was meeting someone just for the sake of business, because if not…
I shook my head, clearing all those jealous and annoying thoughts.
“I’ll beat some sense into her when I finally meet my wolf. she is the one making me do and feel all this annoying and confusing stuff”
“Sure,” Jane replied casually in the tone of someone who did not believe that even slightly and had no intention of pretending otherwise.
“But we can’t continue talking on the phone about it. Just come over this evening, we’ll plan further.”
“I dont think we should do that” I mumbled.
“Then just rest and chill in your room like he asked you to,” Jane replied.
“I hate you” I grumbled and she chuckled. “Nice joke. Okay, see you then”
Saying so she disconnected the phone.
I hung up telling myself, firmly, that I was not actually going to do this.
