I fell asleep feeling light and sore at the same time. The adrenaline and frustration had all died down after Connor sated my hunger and calmed me down.

Even in my sleep I could vividly recall the expressions on his face, the way his voice was strained when he was thrusting in and out of me.

It was so damn gorgeous to see him like that, coming apart and making those guttural sounds while he gave me what I had been yearning for so long.

Even curled up like a ball with nothing except sheets draped over me, I sleepily reached for him, wanting to feel and soak in that warmth that radiated from him.

The last clear thing in my head was Connor’s voice telling me he was mine for as long as the fake dating lasted, anyway.

I smiled in my sleep to pull him closer but my hand found only cold sheets.

I blinked awake to see that his side of the bed was empty

Connor was not asleep beside me and he was also not in the room anymore.

A small, stupid part of me wished he had stayed long enough for me to fall asleep against his chest and I would have woken up to the sight of his sleepy face in the morning.

I pushed the thought away immediately. How silly of me!

Connor didn’t do serious. I knew that so wanting more after just a night full of arguments and teeth and confessions was a fast way to get hurt.

I repeated it to myself over and over in my head like a mantra but it didn’t help as much as I wanted.

The sun was way up the horizon but at least I hadn’t slept all day this time. I considered that a win and sat up, propping myself on the elbows.

The sheets slipped, and cool air touched my skin making it tingle slightly. I looked down at myself to see new marks that made my face heat.

I brushed my fingers over one on my throat and immediately blushed when the memory of his mouth returned in perfect detail.

My body still felt him which was a problem.

I could still hear the rough way he had said you’re mine while he was inside me. I could still feel his mouth and teeth on me and the ache between my legs felt incredibly blissful.

If I sat there on his bed for a few more seconds, I would start craving him again. It was stupid because I had

never even imagined I would find pleasure in anything except getting straight As and maybe Aaron smiling at

  1. me.

But now all my brain could think of was Connor.

I shook my head. I was turning into a pervert.

No, scratch that, my wolf was doing that.

I looked around and found my purse lying on the nightstand. I idly reached for it but there were no reminders from Connor, no messages to ask me to come to train.

Where was he anyway?

He had left the conversation unfinished. I had to speak to him in detail about my wolf, our arrangement and maybe ask him to come up with something that will help me awaken my wolf sooner.

With that in mind, I forced myself out of the bed even when all I wanted to do was just daydream about last night.

I showered longer than necessary, used the salve he had given me to put on the bite marks last time, and stood in front of the mirror for a full minute just looking at the evidence he had left.

Then I stepped out and pulled on a soft skirt and a light sweater.

Exactly the kind of dress he had picked for me the last time he declared me his.

I was going nuts.

I shook my head, reminding myself that I needed to talk about Lily, about the club, about the things we had said when we weren’t tearing into each other. If I didn’t do it now, I would start inventing answers on my own again, and last night had already proven how well that went.

I was halfway down the corridor toward his office when a familiar voice stopped me.

“Sia.”

I turned to see Aaron standing a few steps away with a gym bag over one shoulder, hair still slightly damp like he had just finished training.

He looked genuinely glad to see me until his eyes narrowed a little in concern.

“Aaron” I gave him a small smile.

He approached me. “You look flushed. You okay?”

“I’m fine.” I tried to go for a normal smile and felt weird. “Just in a hurry.”

I tried to step away but he stopped me.

“Hey. Slow down. You’ve been running yourself ragged these past few days. Have you eaten? We could

“Or we could walk the grounds. You look like you need air more than you need whatever urgent task you are rushing to complete.” He tilted his head, trying to catch my eye.

“I’m serious, Sia. We live under the same roof but I barely see you for days. You always spent all your time with me”

“Well, you have Sandra now”

He didn’t seem to like that reminder.

“Yes, but that doesn’t mean I lose my best friend.”

“Aaron…”

“Come on. Give me just one hour of your time. That’s all I’m asking. You can go back to worrying after.”

“Thanks Aaron. But I really need to go talk to Connor”

Hearing his name made the smile disappear from Aaron’s face.

“Is everything okay? Did you guys have a fight or something?”

His gaze drifted down to my neck and he looked alarmed. “Did he hit you, sia?”

I relaized what he was seeing and immediately pulled the sweater’s collar up and hid the bite mark with my

hair.

“No Aaron, it’s nothing” I flushed.

“Then what…” he began and then as if he realized what it was his mouth let out a small ‘oh‘ and his face crumpled a little.

“I didn’t know you guys were…still…”

“Still what?”

He raked a hand through his hair. “Still so much into each other”
