Chapter 95
Sienna
I was spared the need to answer him and for the first time in my life was glad to see Sandra arrive.
She clmibed up the flight of stairs, looking all perplexed. She took in the scene in front of her, the blood splattered around and our faces with varying stages of distress and simply chose to ignore it all.
Looking at Aaron, she reached for his shirt.
“I’ve been looking for you all around, baby. You didn’t even answer your phone.”
Aaron, glad for the distraction it provided, pulled out his phone to see her missed calls and slapped her forehead.
“Sorry, I was just solving something.”
She looked at Connor’s bloodied hands and then at my ruffled face.
“Aaron,” Sandra said finally. “This has obviously nothing to do with you. Tell your unwell friend to go home and come back to the party.”
“You’re right,” Aaron said. “Josh, I think you should go.” He looked at Connor. “And this one…” he gestured toward Josh’s collar and Connor’s hand, “…let him go. He’s not worth your time.”
Connor gave Aaron a long look as if he was connecting the dots to some grand puzzle and was not sure yet with what to do with his discovery.
and
He released Josh’s collar, who stumbled back not so graciously, straightened his jacket and looked at me once with a slight shake of his head before turning around and climbing down the stairs without another word.
Sandra grabbed Aaron’s hand. “Can we please go back to the party now? I’ve been dying to dance with you then…” she dropped her voice like she was sharing something scandalous “…I want us to try that position…”
“Not now, Sandra. I have to drop her home,” Aaron said to her, and she pouted.
“But my dance…” she cried and glared at me like I was the reason for all her problems.
“Yeah, I will get to it after dropping Sia home and returning”
Sandra chided. “She is not a kid, Aaron, that needs constant babysitting. She can take a cab and go home herself if she isn’t interested in the party.”
“I’m standing right here, you know” I said to Sia, my temper flaring but then Aaron gently touched my elbow, shielding her from me.
“Are you sure you’re okay? Genuinely.”
“I’m fine,” I said. “Go, I’ll get a cab.”

“I’ll drop you home”
“Aaron, please go dance with Sandra. There’s no need to spoil your evening because of me.” I said it gently, trying not to recall how she was dying to fuck him yet again.
“I’m fine.”
“Call me as soon as you get in one and also after you reach home no matter what. I will be waiting and…”
Sandra had already descended a few steps and shouted back.
“Are you coming or not, Aaron?”
He threw
me and Connor a look before saying. “I trust you to do the right thing this time, Sia.”
What the hell was that supposed to mean?
Aaron gave us both a look and went after Sandra, leaving me and Connor alone in the hallway.
Well, also the two girls who had just been staring at us all silently trying to understand what the fuck was going on.
Truth be told I didn’t know it myself.
The hallway was quiet after Aaron left, and I looked at Connor’s hands that were still covered in blood.
“Your knuckles…” I began.
“Are fine,” he said, without looking at them.
“They’re bleeding and you need a doctor”
“Go home, Sienna.”
He said in a flat voice, devoid of the usual charm and warmth I had gotten used to.
“I came with Aaron,” I said, trying to stall and find a way to keep talking.
“Who left,” Connor said, “to go fuck his girlfriend. Again. Shouldn’t you be going after him instead of worrying about my knuckles?” He leveled his gaze at me.
The words gave him the exact reaction he wanted. I threw him a look that I couldn’t help and he said. “You’ve got no right to give me that look.”
“Connor, please…”
“Find a cab,” he said and turned to go but his shoulder caught the wall making him stumble.
The girls gasped but he caught himself on the pillar and I crossed the distance before I’d decided to and grabbed his arm.

“Don’t,” he said.
“You almost tripped”

“I said don’t.” He looked at my hand on his arm. “Stay away from me. Wasn’t that what you wanted?”
“I know what I said but its not just me who needs to go home.”
I cast a look at the girls who exchanged nervous glances.
“You both need to leave”
The girls looked at Connor for a response instead but when he said nothing they went back to the room to dress up properly, muttered something under their breaths about wasted time and left.
He saw them climb down the stairs and looking back at him hopefully and made a gesture with his phone that indicated he would contact them later.
