The Year I Stopped Being His novel Chapter 247

David took a deliberate step toward Garrison, his dark brown eyes narrowing with the lethal venom of a coiled viper.

"I warned you, Garrison. No one crosses Knox and lives to tell the tale."

Garrison didn't back down an inch, meeting David's toxic glare head-on.

"You're wrong! I didn't kill these people. You did!"

"You slaughtered innocent people in cold blood! You're nothing but a psychopathic butcher!"

"Heh, believe whatever helps you sleep at night." David chuckled dismissively, his smile dripping with contempt. "Greatness always requires sacrifice. A few pathetic lives mean absolutely nothing compared to Knox's grand vision of saving humanity. All that matters right now is that you lost."

"You lost, Garrison."

Garrison stared at him in heavy silence for two seconds. Then, a chilling smile crept onto his face. It was a smile far colder than the Antarctic winds.

"Saving humanity?" Garrison spat every word with venomous clarity. "Knox can't even save its own drugs, let alone humanity."

David's arrogant smirk faltered for a fraction of a second.

"Knox prices its oncology drugs at five times the global average. Africa can't afford them, and the second India tries to produce generics, you sue them in international courts. You preach about saving humanity, but your hands are drenched in the blood money extorted from dying patients." Garrison took a slow step forward, his voice a low, lethal hum that sliced through the air like a razor. "You illegally traffic patient data, bribe hospitals, and buy off regulators—did you honestly think I didn't know? Knox stopped being a pharmaceutical company decades ago. You're a massive, bloodsucking cartel. You gorge yourselves on the blood of the desperate."

David's eyes narrowed into dangerous slits, his fists clenching tight, but he stayed silent.

"You're Chinese-American, David," Garrison's voice dropped, laced with a bone-chilling disgust. "You have American blood in your veins. Why be a traitor? Why be Knox's lapdog? Did you actually believe they consider you one of their own? To them, you're just a useful attack dog. To be put down the second you stop producing."
