The Year I Stopped Being His novel Chapter 260

“Sloane?”

“Sloane, stay with me!”

“Hold on, I'm going to save you. I'm going to save you right now!”

Garrison collapsed onto the ice, gathering Sloane's body into his arms. He cradled the back of her neck, his voice cracking as he shouted into her ear.

It was a desperate plea.

At that moment, Sloane's body was as cold as the ice beneath them. She couldn't hear or see him. The entire world felt veiled in a hazy mist, slipping further and further away.

She parted her lips, but it only brought forth a fresh surge of blood.

This time, it wasn't just trailing from her mouth. It wept from her eyes and spilled from her ears. It was as if something deep inside her had shattered, and her life was rushing out to escape.

The winding trails of crimson painted a horrifying picture against her deathly pale complexion.

Panic seized Garrison.

He was a doctor—the best in the United States. He had pulled countless patients back from the brink of death. Yet, in all his thirty years, he had never felt so utterly terrified and helpless.

Right, the epinephrine!

“Get the epinephrine! Don't we have one last dose?! Go get it!” Garrison bellowed.

It was Sloane's only remaining hope.

But no one moved. No one spoke. The silence that fell over them was deafening.

“Go get it! Are you all deaf?!”

A heavy sigh broke the silence before Cassandra's subdued voice carried over the ice.

“Dr. Foster, the last shot of epinephrine... Sloane used it on you a few hours ago when you were shot.”
