She paused, walking over to the main console. Her fingers flew across the touchscreen, pulling up an array of diagnostics.

“Project Evernight was originally designed as a fail-safe for polar researchers in extreme scenarios. If someone got lost in a blizzard, or fell into a crevasse and entered severe hypothermia before an evac, cryopreservation could buy them time. We've never moved to human trials. The ethics committee capped our clearance at mammals.”

She turned around, looking at Garrison's back.

“But... I wanted to push the project further.”

“The Professor...”
