The Year I Stopped Being His novel Chapter 304

The adults whipped their heads around in unison.

Ten-year-old Archie stood quietly in the shadows of the hallway, his hands clasped behind his back. His small frame was rigidly straight, his features striking and fiercely composed—a far cry from the naive innocence expected of a child his age. Dressed in clean white silk pajamas, his youthful face bore a piercing, razor-sharp intensity that locked directly onto the sobbing woman on the floor.

Rosemary blinked in shock, instinctively softening her tone. "Archie, the adults are speaking. Don't interrupt."

But Archie didn't back down. He marched forward, his gaze sweeping over Quinn's overly dramatic, tear-streaked face. His words were razor-sharp, ruthlessly shredding the pathetic illusion they were trying to paint.

"Rosemary, Quinn made the mistake. Dad did absolutely nothing wrong."

His voice was crisp and rang with undeniable authority, echoing loudly through the silent living room.

"Being drunk is never an excuse to cross boundaries and act recklessly."

Archie tilted his chin up, his logic flawless and every word hitting its mark. His tone was unflinchingly fair. "Tonight was a family dinner. Quinn spent the entire evening binge-drinking, which was highly inappropriate to begin with. She used the alcohol as a shield to repeatedly push my dad's boundaries. He tolerated it at first, but she kept harassing him. His silence was an act of mercy."

"But she wasn't satisfied. She deliberately threw herself into his arms, using her intoxication to force a repulsive, intimate moment, violating every basic boundary of decency. Dad simply stepped aside to protect his personal space. He didn't yell, he didn't shove her—letting her fall on her own was the kindest thing he could have done."

Without missing a beat, Archie stepped closer. His small silhouette paused beside Quinn. He reached out a tiny hand and gently patted her trembling back, his movements incredibly mature and soothing.
