The Year I Stopped Being His novel Chapter 320

Vivienne Hayes looked at the handsome man, taking in the shattered yet unextinguished light in his eyes. She recognized that look—it was pure, unyielding obsession.

"Dr. Foster, you know better than I do that Ms. Taylor is already dead," Vivienne's voice was calm and cold. "What lies here is her body."

"Theoretically speaking, this body is no different from someone who just passed away, except that it's infused with a special preservation fluid. She can't feel the cold."

"I know." Garrison Foster met her gaze firmly, refusing to back down. "But I still want to try."

Vivienne lowered her eyes, remaining silent for a long time. Finally, she looked up at him with a soundless sigh.

"Alright, follow me."

Vivienne led Garrison through an airtight door and into a changing room.

A row of silver protective suits hung on the wall. Vivienne assessed Garrison's height and pulled down a suit that looked to be his size.

"These are our specialized protective suits. Unlike standard polar gear, they are made of multi-layered composite aluminum foil with micro liquid-cooling pipes embedded in the inner layer. They can completely insulate you from the extreme cold of minus three hundred and twenty degrees Fahrenheit."

She handed the suit to him and continued, "This suit will allow you to stay in the liquid nitrogen environment for a short while. But once the time is up, you must evacuate immediately."

She looked at him, her gaze solemn and deadly serious. "I will temporarily shut off the liquid nitrogen circulation for you. Remember, you only have half an hour. If the system isn't restored by then, Ms. Taylor's body will suffer irreversible damage!"

Garrison took the suit and nodded. "Thank you, Manager Hayes."

"I will be out in half an hour."

Garrison quickly changed into the protective suit. Vivienne led him into the antechamber of the cryo-chamber and then unlocked the main door.
