They Called Me Heartless So Reborn I Watched Them Self Destruct novel Chapter 2

2 2–Tonight

Lucien Volkov’s POV:

When I got out of the car, the Alpha of the Blackthorn pack was standing at the main entrance of the packhouse with his Luna beside him. Both of them looked like they were about to be executed. If they failed to give me what wanted, I might just make their fears a reality.

“Welcome, Your Majesty.” When Alpha offered me his hand, I ignored it completely.

“I’m here to collect the blood debt,” I said coldly, walking past them to enter the packhouse.

Luna Ava seemed shaken and giggled nervously. “Right, Your Majesty… of course, this way –”

When I entered the packhouse, a faint scent of butter croissants and lime reached my nose.

“Mate!” My beast Zorro went feral inside me. “Our mate is nearby, Lucien.”

I ignored my Lycan and headed straight for the Alpha’s office, taking the seat usually reserved for the Alpha.

Alpha Chris and Beta Rick could only follow me silently and watch as I took over the office. They didn’t dare to say a word.

“Where is your daughter?” I asked Beta Rick, not even trying to mask the bitterness in my voice.

“Sh–she… she’ll be here in a while.”

I nodded, checking my wristwatch. Barely a second passed before Zorro slammed violently inside my head. “Mate! She was here in the office. I can still smell her.”

I clenched my jaw in disgust. I would never take a mate from a pack whose future beta had murdered my sister. He killed my sweet little sister, and now his family would pay the blood debt.

I heard the door open and looked up, expecting the girl. Instead, several Omegas entered carrying trays of snacks. I scowled. This was just a waste of my time.

The moment the first tray of food touched the table, my control snapped.

“Get out!” I hissed. The Omegas nearly stumbled over their own feet in shock.

“I said get out!” I roared when they didn’t move fast enough.

Within seconds, all the Omegas rushed out, trembling in fear.

Suddenly, I shot to my feet. Before anyone could react, my arm swept across the table. The ceramic plates crashed against the marble floor.

The Alpha and Beta of the Blackthorn pack flinched in their seats. Apparently, they hadn’t expected that kind of reaction from their king.

My breathing had grown dangerously heavy, “Do you think I came here all the way to party? To eat your food and pretend all is well?” Every word I said dripped with menace, “I came here to collect a debt.”

My canines had fully extended, and my Lycan was struggling to come forward. A monstrous growl rumbled from my chest; I could feel my eyes blazing as my Lycan pushed forward.

My alpha aura was slipping out of control, rolling through the room in waves. Even though Chris was an Alpha, he couldn’t stand against me. The room fell silent and nobody dared to breathe.

I placed both hands on the table and leaned forward slowly, “Don’t test my patience. Bring the girl so that I can sign the contract and get out of this bullshit pack!” I could feel my veins in my neck bulging as I spoke through clenched teeth. clenche

Alpha Chris whispered in a weak voice, “Sh… she’s coming… I’ve already sent the mindlink.”

Arabella’s POV:

I looked in the mirror and barely recognized the girl staring back at me. She looked nothing like the one who usually cleaned this packhouse.

Gone were my ragged clothes. In their place, I wore an off–white gown that reached my knees. All the bruises that Vikki had left during last night’s beating were completely covered by the dress, and the scar on my face was well hidden beneath the makeup.

When I was unconscious, Vanessa had dyed my snow–white hair black and curled it to resemble her own. Now, Vanessa was cheerfully applying lipstick on me.

They were sending the Beta’s beloved daughter to the Lycan King, so she had to at least look the part.

“There.” Vanessa stepped back to admire her work. “Much better than your usual ugly self.”

Something cold touched my neck, and I looked down.

My mother’s necklace. My fingers immediately closed around the pendant.

Vanessa had taken it from me two years ago. I had begged her to give it back until begging earned me multiple beatings, and I finally stopped asking. And now, she was returning it to me.

Before I could decide whether or not to thank her, my stepmother Vikki Toussaint appeared at the door with the news I had been dreading. “Vanessa, baby, the King is here, and he wants to see her right away.”

Whatever calm I had left disappeared.

So soon?

Strangely, Vanessa didn’t look frightened anymore. Neither did her mother.

In fact, they spent the next few minutes whispering about how handsome the King was.

I almost laughed.

Yesterday, Vanessa had cried at the thought of being sent to him. And today, she thought he was handsome.
