Chapter 153 Running Wasn’t an Option
Finishe
George was tall and lean. He looked strong, and there was a quiet danger in the way he carried himself.
Maya covered her eyes on instinct, her hands trembling. The whole thing-from the moment George moved to the moment the man went down-couldn’t have taken raore than a few minutes.
He slammed the man to the ground and pinned him there. His grip was steady as he pressed the cold edge of the shears against that criminal’s neck.
He didn’t say a single word.
A short scream cut through the air.

That criminal twitched a few times, then went still. George casually dragged him over and tossed the flower bushes.
Then he slowly turned around and looked at the girl behind him. “You’re still here, Maya?” he said. dragging out her name.
Maya’s heart pounded so hard it hurt.
She slowly lowered her hands and met his eyes.
There were small drops of blood on his white shirt. He was smiling, but in this moment, that smile looked strange on his soft, boyish face.
Like he might turn that shear toward her next.
“It’s not too late for you to run now, Maya Clark,” George said lightly.
Maya didn’t move. She just stared at him blankly.
Even though Maya had suspected something about his identity, seeing it happen right in front of her still hit hard.
There were faint specks of blood on George’s shirt as he stood there, he was asking calmly why she wasnt running. A cold shiver crawled up her spine and shot straight to her head.
“You…” Her voice trembled.
She swallowed and forced herself to steady her breath.
“You’re letting me go?”
George tilted his head, his tone lazy and almost bored. “What else would I do?”
He paused for a beat and lifted his mouth slightly.
Not a real smile, just a faint curve. His voice was light like this was nothing serious. Im not going to chase you.”
Chapter 153 Running Wasn’t an Option
Maya felt numb all over.
Really?
But he just called her by her name. Before this, he just called her Maya.
That tiny change said everything. If she un now, she would end up like the man in the bushes.
So running was out of the question.
When it came down to life and death, people could adjust faster than they thought. Maya steadied herself quickly. She stayed where she was and managed to speak as if nothing had happened. “You killed someone, teacher.”
They had known each other for about a month, but she had never really understood him.
She was probably a stray animal for George. She was likely just something to amuse him when he was bored, and he could easily get rid of her.
“Mm-hmm.” He nodded, smiling at her.
His expression was perfectly normal, as if nothing had happened at all.
Maya swallowed again, her thoughts racing.
“Then you…” she started.
George grew curious and didn’t move. He wanted to hear what she would say. For now, he had no intention of doing anything, at least not until she finished.
“Do you need help?” she blurted out at once. “If you don’t deal with the body, someone’s going to find it.”
