Chapter 301 A Week Until the Meet-Up

Whenever Maya told people her name, the first thing they always said was

“You’re Raymond’s daughter?”

“Wendy? Banshee? Her daughter? That explains it”

No one cared who she was.

It bothered Maya. She had earned her jobs with her skills, yet people always tied her achievements to her family.

Not long ago, she had complained about it to Alfred.

That robot-like human had simply said, “That’s a good thing.”

Maya had exploded.

“How is it a good thing?” she shot back. “I finish a mission by myself, and in the end, the client doesn’t even remember my name. They just go-”

She lowered her voice and imitated them. “No wonder. She’s Raymond’s daughter. That’s not fair.”

Alfred answered as if it were obvious. “Look at the bright side; you get more jobs.”

Alfred was a complete workaholic.

He didn’t care if people called him “Raymond’s son” or “Edric’s little brother.” As long as there was work, he

was content.

Clients typically did not trust young assassins.

But every time Alfred met a client, he would casually list his family members, and people instantly trusted

him.

“Hello. My uncle is Ned, and my older brother is Edric. I also have two other brothers. One is the heir to a crime family, and the other is a wanted criminal. My mother is the top assassin in the underground world, codenamed Banshee. And if you’re interested in my father, his name is Raymond. He has committed several major international crimes and is still number one on the wanted list.”

Alfred paused to make sure the other person was keeping up.

“I also have an elderly grandfather. Would you like to know his name too?”

After that speech, even the pickiest clients chose him.

Thinking about it, Maya pouted and opened her phone. Then she noticed that an online friend she had known for many years had suddenly sent her an address.

She sat up with a jolt.

OmkFuFced wrote. “Maya, we’re back from overseas. Do you have time to meet up?”

SexyOctopus asked, “Come see us during your holiday. Or we can pick a place whenever you’re free. The first was a guy. The second was a girl.

She had met both of them through an online game. Back then, they were middle school dropouts. Now they were probably around 20 years old.

At the time, Maya had only been seven. She had sworn to Clarks that she would never meet online friends in real life.

But now she was older.

She could finally meet friends she had known for eight or nine years.

With that thought in mind, she opened the address and zoomed in on the map to check its location.

Sugarcoat Bullet replied, “Sure. I’ll come see you in a week.”

After sending the message, Maya left the chat and logged into Silent Archive’s internal system. She searched through the mission database.

The intelligence team updated missions from all over the world every day. They were sorted by region and difficulty. She entered the address and started the search.

The loading icon spun for two seconds. Then she discovered there really was a mission near her online friends.

Maya’s eyes lit up. She accepted the assassination job.

Before leaving to meet her online friends, she sent her mother a message on WhatsApp, telling her she was about to travel to meet people she knew online.

A few minutes later, Wendy sent her a pile of videos.

Maya looked down.

They were all sensational videos with increasingly scary titles.

“Teen Girl Meets Online Stranger. The Ending Is Heartbreaking!”

“Tell Your Daughter This: How to Protect Yourself from Internet Traps!” “Young Girl Goes Missing After Meeting Online Friend. Parents Beg for Leads!” “Never Meet Online Friends in Private! The Consequences Are Terrifying!”

“Another Real Story! A Girl’s Tragic Fate After Meeting an Online Friend!”

Maya said nothing.

She stared at the long list of videos in silence.
