Chapter 302 Lunch Before the Hunt

“By the way, Chance–don’t get too excited-about raceting your online friend. We still have someone to catch first,” Lucy reminded him.

The two of them had been partners for years.

No matter how important an online friend was, they still had to finish the assignment their teacher gave them.

Otherwise, she didn’t even want to imagine how he would punish them.

“Chance, you know about this mission, right?”

“I do.” He smiled mysteriously. “It’s a sting operation. Our teacher posted a job through Silent Archive and sent them fake intel. A young assassin from another organization will come looking for us. Our job is to capture her alive.”

Honestly, capturing an assassin alive was much harder than killing one.

Especially an assassin trained by Silent Archive.

“She’s so young and already working as an assassin. Her family life must be terrible.” Lucy sounded sympathetic. “That young assassin is about the same age as Maya. They’re both minors. Go easy on her, okay?”

“That’s not a fair comparison. Maya is a good kid.”

He had always liked his online friend. He saw her more as a little sister. His voice softened, but there was a bad hint of coldness in it. “How can a good kid and a bad kid be compared?”

Lucy didn’t answer.

The line between good and bad wasn’t theirs to draw.

They weren’t good people.

They didn’t hate the assassins from Silent Archive. Their teacher was the one with a grudge against the organization.

Still, their teacher was usually more tolerant of children. If he could recruit them, he would. They all underwent a round of brainwashing before joining him.

She wondered what would happen if this underage assassin fell into their teacher’s hands.

“Never mind.” Lucy pulled out the outfit she had bought for the meetup. “Chance, tell me honestly. Does this look okay? Do I look like a normal person? Do you think Maya will suspect us?”

Both of them were looking forward to finally meeting their online friend.

Chapter 302tanch Before the Hunt

Maya arrived in the city with plenty of time te spare. The job could wait.

Meeting her online friends came first.

After putting away her suitcase, she grabbed her backpack and hurried out to meet them for lunch.

The restaurant they chose had a nice atmosphere, and the two of them were easy to spot.

A young man and a young woman were sitting together.

The man had blond hair and obvious mixed features. He looked cheerful and outgoing. The woman was calmer. She had delicate features and a quiet, gentle air.

Maya looked around the restaurant and quickly found them. She walked over to their table.

“Hi. Are you waiting for someone?” she asked carefully.

Chance had been watching her ever since she walked in.

He smiled and got straight to the point. “Maya?”

She nodded at once.

“Chance? Lucy?” She pointed at the young man and then the brighter as they exchanged names.

young woman. Her voice became rouch

During lunch, the three of them talked about their lives/They had known each other online for years. At first, things were a little awkward, but as they kept talking, the atmosphere became warmer and friendlier.

It was a wonderful first meeting.

Nothing like the scary, dangerous stories her mother had warned her about.

“You look like a doll,” Lucy said with a smile, resting her chin in her hand after they finished eating. “People must have loved pinching your cheeks when you were little.”

Maya touched her face. “Actually, no.”

Her skin turned red effortlessly. Whenever someone made her cry or left her cheeks red, Wendy would usually kick that person halfway across the room.

So very few people ever pinched her cheeks.

“How long are you staying in this city?” Chance asked with a grin. “Have you ever thought about working at our company one day? We have great benefits.”

Maya shook her head and said, “No thanks. My company has benefits too.

“I’ll probably leave the day after tomorrow. I have something to do tomorrow.”

Chance looked reluctant to let her go. He stared at her. “Will we get to meet again? Can’t you stay a little longer?”
