Chapter 330 Do You Dare?

  1. Pears

Alfred found it faintly interesting that the moment things turned tense, she slipped behind him. He said nothing, just tilted his head slightly.

He wanted to see how Maya would handle it.

“Are you going to kill us?” Maya asked.

“We absolutely have that authority.” The man in front was already running out of patience. “Now hand over the woman behind you.”

Lucy’s whole body shook. She tried to pull free from Maya’s grip and step forward on her own

Maya held on tight.

Lucy lowered her head, staring at Maya’s hand. Her eyes reddened, but she didn’t cry.

“I’m sorry. I dragged you into this.” She took a deeper breath this time, like she was bracing herself. “Let go. Now.”

Maya didn’t move.

“If you don’t, I’ll open fire on both of you,” the officer said, voice cold.

“Wait.” Maya cut in before he could snap. She leaned out slightly, words coming faster. “Let me say one thing. After that, do whatever you want.

“Silent Archive belongs to my family. My uncle runs it. You’ve seen the top of the most-wanted list, right? That’s my dad. My mom goes by Banshee. You can check her record.

“My other three brothers are here too. And our last name is Clark. As in the Clarks.”

“Okay. I’m done.” She squeezed her eyes shut, voice flattening. “Go ahead and kill me.”

The man paused.

Is she reciting a menu or something?

From everything she’d picked up in underground circles, Maya had boiled her identity down to one line- she was as connected as it got.

And she’d just laid it all out like a list.

The corridor went quiet.

Lucy stayed kneeling, hands still on her head. The shaking had eased, but the fear hadn’t left her face. It mixed with something slower, delayed. “Maya?”

Maya reached out and patted her head, voice dropping. “It’s fine. It’s fine. World’s not ending. Not yet.”

Lucy’s cold hand grabbed hers. For a second, she really did want to cry.

Chapter 338 De You Dare?

Not just her. The officers, guns still raised, had frozen too.

Their expressions shifted caught between tension and doubt.

“Banshee?” The middle-aged man frowned.

He knew that codename.

Anyone who’d been around long enough did.

Even so, his muzzle dipped a little.

Wasn’t she supposed to be retired? No way she’d resurface now.

“I thought the Clarks barely had daughters. And are they really that dangerous?” one of the newer recruits asked. He’d been on the job less than three years.

Mos: of what he knew about underground families came from secondhand talk. He had no real sense of what those names meant.

“You’re buying that?” another voice cut in. “Still, she could be from a branch family. The Clarks are everywhere.

“But if you’re talking about the guy at the top of the most-wanted list, I know him. He’s been stirring things up overseas. He’s from the direct line. And they say he went through all that just to marry that infamous female assassin…”

“Seriously?”

“Why would I lie?”

The three of them got more into it, trading gossip like they’d forgotten why they were here.

The middle-aged man didn’t join them.

His gaze lingered on Maya’s face, trying to find traces of her parents in her features.

“Lower your guns,” he said quietly.

The red light on the bodycam blinked in the dark, recording everything.

Daughter of the number one most-wanted.

Niece of the one behind Archive.

Daughter of Banshee.

A Clark.
