This Time, I’ll Be the Villain’s Favorite Daughter
Chapter 340 Real Frustration

The boy pulled his knife free like it was nothing and still had time to complain. “Stop wasting time on random targets, Maya. You’ve got school tomorrow.”
Maya wanted to yell the word “boring” the second she heard school.
She had zero interest in going back to pointless arguments with those so-called protagonists.
“Stop bringing up school every five seconds,” she shot back. “Did Harmony International hire all four of you as spokespeople?”
How much money did the Clarks pour into that place to make all of them this obsessed?
While they argued, gunfire echoed deeper inside the base
Unfortunately, the aim was terrible. Not a single shot came close.
The organization wasn’t big, but it had held this territory for five or six years without trouble. They had never seen anything like this.
The two intruders moved in ways that didn’t make sense.
After a few people went down, the rest caught on fast. Anyone with half a brain chose to play dead instead of sticking their head out.
Alfred scrolled through the order system on his phone, checking for any contracts tied to this place.
If there were, he’d handle them while he was here.
After a while, he found nothing.
Apparently, even the wealthy didn’t want to waste time on a place like this.
Maya, on the other hand, couldn’t care less.
She ranked near the bottom in the Silent Archive and usually coasted.
She reached out and yanked someone back from a side door where he’d been peeking out.
“Where’s Chance?” Maya demanded, tone sharp.
The man’s face went pale. He shook as he looked at this clearly hostile female killer. “Who?”
Maya stayed patient. “The one you grabbed two days ago. Blond hair. Looks decent. Kind of

like a foreigner.”

He didn’t hesitate. Swallowing his fear, he said, “I-I’ll take you there. Please, just let me go.”
“Sure. Thanks.”
Maya agreed instantly.
Around them, the others quietly pulled their heads back.
Faced with these two, they whispered among themselves, trying to figure out what to do.
It didn’t take long to reach a conclusion: they would play dead together.
Fighting them head-on was suicide.
In their world, assassins were part of an unspoken system.
These two looked like professionals.
Professionals didn’t kill for fun. They killed for money.
Sure enough, the pair seemed to be here just to find someone.
“Should we call the others?”
“Go ahead. Try it. If they catch you, I’ll bring flowers to your grave and remember all the years we worked together.”
The man paused.
Forget it. Better to play dead.
This is just a job. Not worth dying for.
They listened carefully. Once they heard Maya and Alfred move away, they started getting up to run, only to freeze again when footsteps sounded outside.
They quickly hid again, shaking.
When George walked in, he saw only a few bodies scattered around.
Hands in his pockets, he smiled like someone easygoing, even if his words didn’t match. “I thought Alfred was going to wipe this place clean.”
Edric glanced around and replied calmly, “Do you know Silent Archive’s rates? Alfred’s fee is top-tier.”

Assassins worked for money.
No one here was paying.
No reason to work for free.
The logic was flawless, leaving no room to argue.
George shrugged. “Then I’m pretty valuable too, right? Based on Toby’s bounty on me, I’m number one on the Silent Archive’s bounty list.”
Edric said nothing.
That bounty had caused a stir at first. Later, the absurd price tag turned it into a joke, a piece of paper buried somewhere no one cared about.
The two of them chatted like they weren’t standing inside an enemy base.
“That Chance,” George said, his smile thinning just a little, a chill slipping through, “he’s that online friend Maya’s known for years, right? She dyed her hair right after meeting him. Must be connected.”
Edric didn’t comment, his expression neutral.
“The hair itself isn’t the problem. Even if she turns into a piece of broccoli, I’d still love her.”
“But she has to go to school. She can’t show up like that.”
For once, there was real frustration in Edric’s voice.
He rarely cared about things that didn’t matter.
Not business deals. Not assassination jobs. Not even having a gun pointed at his head.
But Maya tested his patience every single time.
He’d lost count of how many times he’d been called into school meetings because of her.
