Chapter 342 The Familiar Entrance

Maya had no obligation to answer his questions.

“Come on. We’re going to find Ernest. I’ve got a score to settle with him.”

Finist

Chance froze for a second, then nodded. He pressed his lips together, his expression turning a little cold. “Ernest has a lot of information. He could still be useful to you.”

People like him were only valuable if they stayed alive.

As soon as he finished speaking, his expression tightened, and he instinctively moved to Maya side.

He positioned himself perfectly outside Alfred’s line of sight.

“Chance!”

Lucy’s voice came from the other end of the hall. The next second, she hurried over and grabbed his arm, looking him over from head to toe.

Overall, he was still alive. All four limbs were intact, and his brain seemed mostly functional.

Chance stared back at Lucy. Before long, his attention drifted to the people walking with her.

George and Edric were standing together.

The two of them were seriously easy on the eyes.

Toby lagged a couple of steps behind. When he noticed Chance looking at him, he shot him a glare without the slightest bit of politeness.

There was no emotion in his gaze. He looked like he could pull a gun and shoot someone at

any moment.

Even so, Chance couldn’t help taking a few extra looks because of how handsome he was.

After being locked up for so long, he was still groggy, and his brain wasn’t working at full speed. His mouth moved faster than his thoughts, and the words slipped out before he could stop them. “Lucy, where exactly did you find this male model squad?”

Lucy fell silent.

“No.” She hurriedly corrected him. “That’s Maya’s brother.”

Silence followed.

“Wow.” Chance instinctively glanced at Maya. The shock in his voice far outweighed any fear “That’s honestly impressive. Your brother looks like a professional male model, Maya.”

Even as a guy, he had to admit it.

Lucy quickly pinched him. Not hard enough to hurt, but just enough to make him shut up.

“I think being locked up messed with his head,” Lucy explained to Maya, forcing a slightly sti smile. “I’m gonna go have a quick talk with him.”

She dragged Chance a few steps away and lowered her voice, practically gritting her teeth. “C you please stop talking? Do you even know how I got out?”

The moment the subject came up, Chance immediately lost the playful tone.

“How did you guys get out of the Imperial Order? And how did you even find this place?”

Lucy could only explain everything from beginning to end. When she finished, she summed up her friend’s family background for him. “Old-school crime family. The Clarks. Got the picture now?”

Silence followed. Chance spent two seconds processing that before suddenly realizing something tragic at the worst possible moment.

Those two cartons of milk he had bought were definitely never getting delivered.

“I remember she used to tell us stuff like, ‘I got thrown into the training grounds again today,’ and ‘Killing people is easier than doing homework,’ and all kinds of crazy nonsense.”

Chance genuinely had an incredible memory. He still remembered those old conversations perfectly. “We all thought she was just going through an edgy phase.”

“How was anyone supposed to think that was real?” Lucy said in a weary tone. “The Imperial Order is basically finished now anyway. Let’s bring some intel as a goodwill gift later and switch over to Silent Archive. Their organization doesn’t beat their employees.”

“That actually sounds pretty good.” Chance nodded. “Then I can be coworkers with Maya.”

When Ernest was dragged into the basement, the rope cut into the old wounds around his wrists, burning like fire.

Someone struck his shoulder blade with a rubber mallet.

Ernest clenched his teeth. His mouth was filled with the taste of iron.

“Tough guy, huh?” the man said as he crouched down and grabbed Ernest’s chin, forcing hir lift his head.

Ernest tugged at the corner of his mouth in a faint smile.

“Boss, this guy’s too stubborn. Should we try something else?” someone nearby asked.

“No rush.” The man released his chin. “He’s valuable. His brain is worth money. Don’t damag For people like him, psychological torture works best. Throw him into the white room

tomorrow.”

Ernest lowered his head. Blood and sweat mixed together and dripped from the tip of his nc

By the time they finally cut him down from the ropes, his left arm was completely useless.

Someone kicked him, and Ernest simply rolled onto his side on the floor, his face pressed against the cold concrete.
