FENJA’S CONDITION IS GETTING WORSE
FENJA’S CONDITION IS GETTING WORSE
“He will be here, you don’t need to worry. Don’t think of anything else. You will be fine.” Kane hugged Fenja, squeezed Jaxon between them slightly, as she cried on his shoulder.
Kane felt so bad for her, but he knew the thing that Fenja didn’t know. Something that Xaden refused to tell her.
It was not fair for Fenja, but there was nothing else Kane could do if Xaden still determined to continue with his detachment.
However, after seeing how miserably Fenja was, he was going to have another serious talk with Kane. The alpha had to completely understand the situation with Fenja, because either way, he was going to kill her if he continued this way.
Xaden would only put the two of them through hell, if he insisted with his plan.
“Everything will be alright, Fenja. Xaden will be here.” Kane caressed her back soothingly.
On the other hand, Fenja said nothing, she kept sobbing quietly, but it was not because she believed what Kane said, she simply didn’t have the energy to argue otherwise. Kane was Xaden’s person, of course, he would defend him.
The alpha and the beta, they shared a special bond as the pack leader and its trusted person.
Fenja doubted what Kane said was true… she didn’t trust anyone at this point.
“Xaden will not let anything happen to you and Jaxon.” Kane reassured Fenja again, as if he could feel how unconvinced she was, yet Fenja still said nothing.

After Kane ordered Alec to be put in the dungeon, Neil raised a hell against the beta. He demanded him to release Alec right away, yet the beta refused the order.
“I am the alpha, and you dare to defy an alpha’s order?” Neil snarled viciously when he saw Kane just returned from visiting Fenja. Her condition was getting worse.
“But, you are not my alpha,” Kane sneered derisively at Neil. “You don’t have any right to order me around and I don’t have any obligation to follow you.”
Neil glared at him, and for a split second, he looked like he was going to shift into his wolf form, but of course, it was the stupidest thing that he would have done if he followed his impulsiveness.
“You are going to regret this. I will not accept this humiliation!” Neil snapped at Kane.
On the other hand, the beta said nothing and watched Neil stormed away. The alpha and the luna refused to ave the pack before they met with their daughter and their grandson, even after everything that happened, the stood their ground.
Yet, after Neil’s last encounter with Kane, the next day, he took all of his warriors to leave the northern pack ground.
“They have left. I just received the information about it from the warriors, who patrolled around the building.” Kane grinned at Fenja. “I think they must have been so fed up.”
Fenja smiled weakly. She pushed herself into a sitting position and Kane helped her to arrange the pillow behind her back.
“How are you feeling?” Kane asked carefully. He was happy that Alpha Neil had left, because he wouldn’t cause trouble again, but no matter what, Alpha Neil was still Fenja’s father and both of them were her parents. Not to mention with the fact that Alec was still in the dungeon. Those people, at some point at Fenja’s life, were important for her.
“I am glad to hear that,” Fenja said in a weak voice, she gave Kane a small smile.
“How are you feeling?” Kane asked with a deep concern in his voice, he looked at Fenja with a frown because of how pale she was.

FENJA’S CONDITION IS GETTING WORSE
Arya had told him over and again that she couldn’t do anything with Fenja’s condition. It had nothing to do with her body, but it was her mind and soul, which were not Arya’s line of expertise.
“I am fine.”
It was the same answer. This question had become so predictable, because what else Fenja would say? Both of them knew what was wrong.
Right at that time, Fern entered the room with a tray of food and behind her was Ailee, her mother, who carried Jaxon in her arms.
“Oh, I am sorry, if I interrupted you two…” Fern looked embarrassed because she saw the beta was there. She blushed. “Beta Kane.” The young omega lowered her head.
Fenja had noticed how Fern would easily blush when she interacted with Kane, even though it was only a small, trivial greeting.
Occasionally, Fenja would love to tease Fern for that.
“No, you don’t. I am done here and about to leave. I was waiting for you to come so the luna will not be alone.” A deep crimson color appeared on Fern’s apple cheeks, she moved aside when Kane walked past her.
“I will see you again tomorrow, Fenja.” Kane waved at her and cooed at Jaxon for a while, kissing the baby’s cheeks affectionately. He was a great uncle for the baby.
Jaxon laughed heartily and kissed Kane back. He stretched out his arms towards the beta when he left, but when Ailee pointed at Fenja, the little boy forgot about Kane entirely and smiled wildly at his mother.
Her son was the only balm for Fenja’s bruised heart. She always felt better after seeing his sweet and innocent laughter, as if nothing in the world could taint him.
But, of course, Fenja was not naïve enough. The world was too cruel to stay innocent.
However, for this moment, Fenja wanted to enjoy her time with her son, because she didn’t know until when it would last.
“Mama… Eat…” Jaxon looked at Fenja with his big green eyes. “Eat.”
He had said a few words, especially ‘mama‘, that was the first word he could utter clearly and Fenja was more
than happy.
“Okay.” Fenja put Jaxon on her lap and started to eat her food, while Fern and Ailee sat near her to accompany her with small talks about Jaxon’s days.
nja couldn’t go out for long and Jaxon was an active baby, thus most of the time, it would be Fern and Ailee, ..no would accompany him exploring the area around the alpha building.
“The alpha will be here in two weeks… and it will be Jaxon’s first birthday in a month. Do you think, the alpha will throw a festivity, luna Fenja?” Fern was beside herself, she was cheerful and a little bit immature, but Fenja liked her company, it made things not so hard for her.
“I don’t know…” Fenja said truthfully. There are a lot of things that she didn’t know.
Ailee elbowed her daughter and gave her a pointed look. “We are in the middle of a war, do you still think of a festivity when the ceremony of the luna and the alpha had been done in such humble way?”
Fern looked at her mother sheepishly and then apologized to Fenja, which she waved her hand, telling her there was nothing wrong about it.
Two weeks…
Within two weeks, Xaden would be here. It had been more than eight months since the last time she saw him.

THE REJECTION
Fenja was restless in her sleep. The room was very hot. Her body was burning and she was whimpering in pain.
However, someone touched her forehead, which forced her to open her eyes slightly and saw Xaden was staring back at her.
“She has a fever,” Xaden said grimly.
Fenja couldn’t see her, but she heard Arya’s voice. “I know, I have been trying to stabilize her condition. You can’t leave, Xaden. You have to stay with her, or we are going to lose her.”
The cold hand on Fenja’s forehead twitched slightly and Fenja heard Xaden mumbled something as a response, but she couldn’t hear him clearly as the darkness took over her consciousness and she fell into a deep slumber.
The cold hand on her forehead felt nice…
The next time Fenja woke up again, she didn’t feel Xaden’s hand on her forehead, but she felt his body against
hers.
He was hugging her tightly with her head tucked safely under his chin. Their legs tangled together.
The first thing that came to Fenja’s mind was; this must be a dream. She had been in and out of consciousness for so many times, she had lost track on what reality and what dream.
Xaden wouldn’t be here… he should be here in two weeks. More importantly, he wouldn’t hug her like this. He wouldn’t take the initiative to touch her.
However, it did feel good to be held by someone.
Fenja opened her eyes and lifted her head. The alpha was still sleeping and he looked exhausted. There were black eyebags under his eyes, indicating the lack of sleep.
Was he real?
Fenja lifted her hand and touched Xaden’s cheek. She could feel his stubbles pricked the tips of her fingers and she frowned. It felt real. He was here?
A frown formed on her face and a realization morphed on her expression when she finally realized that it was real. Xaden was here…
“Hah?” Fenja blinked her eyes in confusion. He should be here in two weeks, that was what Kane told her last night, but why he was already here?
hat is ticklish.” Xaden opened his eyes and found Fenja was staring at him with confusion, as her hand still rested on his cheek.
“Xaden?”
“Hm.”
“Is that really you?”
“It’s me.”
Fenja couldn’t believe that. “Why are you here?” Her mind must not work so well, because that was the question that she asked him the first time they met again after eight months being separated. “Where should I be?” Xaden still looked sleepy, but his eyes found hers and they filled with confusion. “No… it’s…” Fenja didn’t know what to say. She expected Xaden would ignore her like before. Meeting her only because he had to and most of the time, he would avoid her because he didn’t want to be too attached to her. I don’t know…”
Fenja wriggled her body and Xaden was stiffened for a brief second before he let her go. Weirdly enough, Fenja didn’t like it… He gave up on her so easily and it was not only about the hug…
