Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 114

For the first time in ages, he slept straight through the night and woke up feeling rested. When Lawrence opened his eyes, it was six in the morning. He got up, took care of his morning routine, then headed to the kitchen and started pulling ingredients from the fridge to cook breakfast for Bonnie.

He didn’t hear a peep from next door and figured Bonnie must still be asleep. Although, as far as he could remember, Bonnie was never the type to sleep in. Even on weekends or school breaks, she was always up a little after six.

Back when they stayed at The Observatory together, their mornings usually started with a run. If she was off at school, Lawrence would make her breakfast and rush it to the dorm before her first class began.

He hadn’t cooked in a while and felt a bit out of practice, but the skills were still there. Over the year they dated, he’d even found a mentor to teach him, all for Bonnie, so he could make something good for her. He’d gotten pretty decent at it.

Around seven, he finished breakfast and went over to knock on her door.

This time, he knocked a bit harder, feeling his courage build with every sound. Lawrence knew he was probably being too persistent. If Bonnie saw it was him, she might explode and tell him to leave.

It didn’t matter. He’d made up his mind. His family was already in the loop. He was here to win Bonnie back, and no matter how annoyed or angry she got, no matter if she cursed at him or slammed the door in his face, he couldn’t bring himself to give up.

He took a deep breath and knocked again. Still nothing.

He knocked over and over, his worry growing as the silence inside dragged on. It was like no one was there. Lawrence frowned. Bonnie always stayed home at this time. She wasn’t the kind of person to slip out early, and she wouldn’t have gone to her parents' place. And she definitely wouldn’t still be in bed, not when she’d need time to get ready for work. Everything in her life was planned out, down to the minute.

A nervous energy took over. His knocking got louder and more desperate. He even started calling her name. It got so noisy that someone from next door poked their head out and told him to quiet down.

Lawrence was just about to try the old passcodes Bonnie used for the lock when the door suddenly swung open.

Bonnie stood there, hunched over, holding her stomach, her face pale as a sheet. She didn’t even lift her head. One hand gripped the doorknob. She whispered, shaking, “Aiken...”
