Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 115

Lawrence wasn't going anywhere, not now. He pulled the blanket up to cover Bonnie and, without letting go of her, reached for his phone.

Bonnie couldn’t move. Pain wracked her body, and the weight of everything was crushing her. All she could feel was hopelessness, endless and deep. It was like she’d been lost at sea for ages, trying to swim her way out, but always stranded at the world’s loneliest point, farther from shore than anyone else on earth.

She shut her eyes, letting the tears fall.

Lawrence finished talking to Parrish, telling him to hurry over with a doctor. When he turned back, he saw Bonnie crying.

She didn't make a sound. Not a word.

Lawrence’s heart felt torn to pieces. He bent over and pulled Bonnie into his arms, his mouth close to her ear. “I’m sorry, Candie. I should have taken better care of you.”

Yesterday, the wind on the mountain had picked up, and he’d felt chilly even with his jacket. Bonnie probably caught cold, and on top of that, he’d upset her so much. No wonder she’d ended up like this.

He hugged her tighter, his hand gently searching for her lower stomach under the blanket, offering a soft, soothing touch. “Is it your period? I can make you some warm ginger milk with dates. Would you like that?”

Bonnie’s vision turned fuzzy with tears. It was hard to tell if it was day or night. For a second, it almost felt like she and Lawrence were still together.

Whenever she had cramps, he would always make her ginger date milk, rub her stomach, and just hold her, running his lips through her hair again and again.

Bonnie felt like she was about to shatter completely. She tried to tell Lawrence to leave, her voice raw and worn out, but her words got lost in her crying. The sound of it was ragged and full of misery, and it felt like every tear left a scar on Lawrence’s chest.

Lawrence kept her close, barely able to swallow past the tightness in his throat. “Once you’re better, I’ll go, I promise. But while you’re like this, Candie, I just can’t leave you alone. I’m sorry.”
