Three Years Later, He Came Back Begging novel Chapter 131

Her petty jealousy and fake sense of pride disappeared the moment she was faced with someone who truly couldn’t care less. Hannah felt exposed, awkward, and completely powerless. She had never been humiliated like this before.

Sometimes, she just didn’t get it. Bonnie’s family background was decent—nice, maybe a little bit better than most—but compared to the Lane family, she was nothing. They weren’t even in the same league.

But somehow, Bonnie always seemed so aloof. Prideful. Like she was looking down on everyone else. Hannah didn’t have that kind of attitude—and honestly, she kind of wished she did. Maybe it was because Lawrence had always backed Bonnie up, giving her confidence she never earned.

Seriously, Lawrence had even insulted Hannah’s own friends for Bonnie’s sake, calling them dogs. Most people would have at least tried to save face, but Lawrence never gave her that courtesy. He never once took her side. Hannah wanted to ask—how could sixteen years at his side lose out to just one year with Bonnie? Was that really all it took for him to give up every bit of love and affection he had always given Hannah?

She kept thinking about it, turning it over in her mind a thousand times, and still came up empty. All that thinking just led her to grip Bonnie’s arm even tighter, her pale fingers digging into the soft cashmere.

She just wouldn’t let go.

She met Bonnie’s eyes, stubborn and unyielding.

Bonnie stared right back, quiet and patient, knowing that Hannah wouldn’t leave until she got everything off her chest.

Rain still drifted down through the hazy, damp air. Bonnie’s voice sounded muffled, soft as the mist around them. “If there’s more, just say it now. Let’s get this over with. After that, I’m asking you and your whole family to stop bothering me.”

Hannah lifted her head, tears brimming, her eyes red and swollen. She grabbed Bonnie’s arms with both hands, her voice shaking. “I thought I won. But after he left you, he still couldn’t forget you. All three years in America, every night we slept together, I was terrified. Terrified that he’d call your name in his sleep, not mine. Bonnie, why did you have to come back? Why are you doing this to us?”

Bonnie’s brow creased in irritation, feeling like Hannah had really lost it. She tried shoving Hannah’s hands off, but Hannah, with years of dance practice, was surprisingly strong. Bonnie couldn’t break free.

Little Jasper hugged his mom’s waist and started wailing, terrified.

People walking out of the office building couldn’t help but look over, drawn in by the commotion.
